LaserJet 3600n

HP Color LaserJet 3600N Q5987A Personal Up to 17 ppm 600 x 600 dpi Color Print Quality Color Ethernet (RJ-45) / USB Laser Printer

Pros: Prints VERY fast. Colors look great. Easy to network. Printer gets it's own IP addy on your network. Really cool.

Cons: Toner is EXPENSIVE. Printing 2 sided 3-fold pamphlets (90% coverage), you'll get about 300 out of your color cartidges. That's when the printer will say your empty. See below for more.

Overall Review: Set the printer to "Override on out" I've printed hundreds of pages since the printer told me I was out of toner, with no sign of running out yet. Also, don't expect to frame a picture that you print on this printer. But, you already knew that...

This thing sucks!

XTRAC PADS Ripper Mouse Pad
XTRAC PADS Ripper Mouse Pad

Pros: None

Cons: I hate it. It now belongs to my girlfriend. It's a soft spongy material that you mouse sinks down into and is hard to move. If your a gamer you don't want this pad. Seriously. I'm going to stick with my Func mousepad that I bought from NewEgg years ago. Here's a link to a REAL gaming mousepad: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817114301 I bought it 3/23/2004 and it's still brand new. I don't know why I ever ordered a new one.

Made it 5 years

ViewSonic 21.3" Active Matrix, TFT LCD UXGA LCD Monitor 8ms(GTG) D-Sub, DVI, USB Pro Series VP2130b
ViewSonic 21.3" Active Matrix, TFT LCD UXGA LCD Monitor 8ms(GTG) D-Sub, DVI, USB Pro Series VP2130b

Pros: No one will ever read this, but I thought it would be fun to note that it just died after 5 years. I was using it as a secondary monitor in a dual-monitor setup. Now I'm using my even older Viewsonic from 2005! LOL

Cons: Didn't last forever.

So far, so good.

SAMSUNG EcoGreen F2 HD103SI 1TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG EcoGreen F2 HD103SI 1TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I got three of these on Shell Shocker. I won't say the price because it'll be censored anyway. Anywho...I put them in a hardware RAID5 (Intel ICH10R) for a total usable space of 2TB and can survive the loss of any one of them and still keep trucking until I replace the hypothetical dead drive. It's still possible to lose the array (and data) during the rebuild process, but that's what backups are for! Reads are as fast as a 2 drive RAID0, writes are SLOWER than molasses in January. Speed hardly matters anyway because my Windows 7 drive is an Intel SSD.

Cons: It's too expensive to send them to Mars. Oh...and no matter how long you waited, you'd never observe this hard drive cross the event horizon of a black hole! Totally unacceptable! Hopefully, Samsung can address these potentially deal-breaking issues in their future internal mass storage devices.

Overall Review: This drive can only be in one of a limited amount of possible combinations of 1's and 0's... 2 raised to the 8,000,000,000,000th power. So just keep that in mind.

Intel X25-M Mainstream 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSDSA2MH080G2R5

Pros: Oh My G.d! I love it. Coming from a RAID 0+1...this thing is FAST!

Cons: Price? Only 80GB? No reach-around?

Overall Review: I'm using this as my windows drive/frequently used programs. and bigger mechanical drive(s) for backup/storage. I used to grow a shadow beard waiting for Photoshop CS3 to load on my "old" computer. I now load Photoshop CS4-64bit in less than 4 seconds!!!

SilenX IXP-54-09 80mm Case Fan
SilenX IXP-54-09 80mm Case Fan

Pros: VERY quiet. Completely silent.

Cons: (1) Price. (2) This fan is quiet for several reasons, one of them being: It doesn't move much air. (Fan blades spin very slowly)

Overall Review: If you want a quiet computer AND your case doesn't have a fan speed control knob, get some (a lot) of these fans. Otherwise, you are better off getting cheaper fans and just turning their speed down.
