SanDisk Cruzer Fit 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ33-016G-B35
SanDisk Cruzer Fit 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive SDCZ33-016G-B35

Pros: Small and less likely to be sheared off it is hit while in the drive. Works with my car stereo, no problem.

Cons: I'm not a fan of caps that separate from the drive. They just get lost. This is no exception. While it is cool to include the "vault" software that encrypts data to help protect your data in case you leave it somewhere, it would be nice if the software wasn't so annoying. The good news is it will install, even at work, without administrative privilege. The bad news is it more or less advertises to you every time you use it. Also, about 25% to 30% of the drive's window is taken up with an advertisement for their cloud storage, while you get to use a scroll bar to see your files. Also, when transferring files, it does not show them populating as it goes, so it appears as if the drive is just stuck churning away. This left me thinking it wasn't working. I canceled it to find out I had stopped it before it was finished transferring. Again, this is all with the included software.

Overall Review: You don't have to use the encryption software of course. Like most here, I had no intention of using it, but then I thought, it would be a good idea since I use the drive for work, but have personal files on it, too. So while it is extra, I feel if you are going to offer something, it ought to not suck. Now I rather like the idea of the encryption. We'll see how long I can stand using it. Can't comment on the speed. I don't really need it to be fast.

Stutters and freezes.

Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000
Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000

Pros: Nice size. Works without installing extra software.

Cons: -Jerky performance and freezing. -Smooth scroll wheel (should be a pro if you like that) -Mouse only turns off when the radio dongle is snapped into the bottom My computer is on the floor under the desk to my left (so say 4 feet from the mouse on the desktop) and the wireless connection seemed insufficient from even that short distance. In normal use, the cursor would pause on it's way to it's destination or even freeze until I moved my off-hand or the drink on my desk or just any object that might interfere (despite it being there for hours). This jerky performance is annoying on a daily basis, but it's death if you are trying to play a video game. I only got consistent performance when I used a USB extension cable to relocate the transmitter to the desktop. I don't like the feel of the smooth scroll wheel. Overall battery life was ok but it could be extended if it had an on/off switch. It's possible there was some software setting to control this. I did not look for t

Overall Review: I think the distance and obstacles between my mouse and computer are very typical and the mouse should have been able to handle it easily. In fact, I purchased a Logitech M505 wireless mouse to replace this one and it is working flawlessly in the same set-up. I did bring the MS 5000 mouse to work, where my computer is situated on the desktop and I was happy that it works fine and that I did not have to load in any software to get it to work as I do not have administrative privileges on my machine.

Crucial M4 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256M4SSD2
Crucial M4 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT256M4SSD2

Pros: When it worked, it seemed normal. No complaints.

Cons: Purchased 05/13/11. Died on 05/04/12. Windows just reported a hard drive error and that I should back-up while I could and that any data I tried to save while using any programs would not be saved. When I shut down and tried to reboot, I got to the little windows symbol and no further.

Overall Review: Honestly, I never saw the huge differences in speed that people claim with solid state drives. Not worth the price anyway. I still have another identical one of these in my machine, let's hope it doesn't die too.

Voltages ok.

Silverstone FP35B USB 2.0 Card Reader with extra silver front panel
Silverstone FP35B USB 2.0 Card Reader with extra silver front panel

Pros: -It does look nice and I like the option to go either silver or black. Too bad other companies don't do this so you can really customize your computer.

Cons: None yet. I'll revise it that changes.

Overall Review: The 5 eggs is misleading since all I have used is the USB, which worked fine. I don't feel I can take away any eggs since I haven't witnessed any problems, yet I didn't really want to give it 5 eggs without having used it a bit, but I have installed it in a friend's computer so I won't get that opportunity. The reason I am writing this review is to mention that I have measured the voltages on the front panel power pins and the 12 V is indeed 12V and the 5V is 5V. Perhaps this problem is only on older units. Also the front panel cable reached my front panel header on a standard ATX board just fine. My case is a somewhat small mid tower. Unfortunately I forgot to measure the length before install, but I just put a ruler up to it in the case and I guesstimate that the front panel wires are about 18" long. I hope this helps someone with their purchasing decision.

Best thing I've bought lately!

NETGEAR WNDR4500 N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Open Source Router - IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n
NETGEAR WNDR4500 N900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Open Source Router - IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n

Pros: -Fast -Easy set-up -Guest network -Works!

Cons: A little pricey.

Overall Review: I had an intermittent problem with my internet that was really getting on my nerves. I didn't think it was the router because I could remove the router and still experience the problem. After exhausting tech support with my ISP, I cautiously decided to purchase a new router, since cycling the power on my router would reset my net connection. Wow, what a great decision that was! It cured multiple problems at once. The loss of connection went away, my wireless speeds increased with the "n" standard and suddenly surfing on my smart phone was actually faster than surfing with 3g. In addition I set up a special guest internet connection, which works fine and in theory I can connect a printer or hard drive to the router to connect it to my home network. Haven't tried that yet. I didn't want to spend this much on a router, but I am so happy with the results it was worth every penny. Note: I was able to set up different passwords for the guest network and the one my wife and I use.

No stuttering!

Logitech Wireless Mouse M505 (910-001326) Red 3 Buttons Tilt Wheel USB RF Wireless Laser Mouse
Logitech Wireless Mouse M505 (910-001326) Red 3 Buttons Tilt Wheel USB RF Wireless Laser Mouse

Pros: -Smooth feel -No cursor freezing, stuttering/jerking -Detents on scroll wheel

Cons: -Detents on scroll wheel (if you prefer a smooth scroll wheel). -Size? The following are not cons, I just needed more space for the review. I admit that I have not pushed the mouse to it's limits. My angle is that I just wanted a mouse without wires that worked well over the short distance between my computer on the floor and my mouse on the desktop. I don't have any comments on the transmitter being hard to remove because I haven't ever removed it. I haven't programmed any of the buttons, I just mouse with it and for that it is great, because the last mouse I had wouldn't do that without stuttering and freezing! Strangely the other M505 colors had different prices and poorer reviews. What's that about?

Overall Review: The Microsoft 5000 series wireless mouse I had would not let me play games unless I relocated the USB transmitter to the desktop with an extension cable. Otherwise the cursor would take a brief pause on its way to the weapon I was selecting. This is annoying in MS Word, but it's death in a video game. I'm not primarily a gamer, but sometimes it just didn't work unless I moved my off hand out of the way or something. This mouse has no such problem! The MS mouse also had a smooth scroll wheel, something that seems to be more common these days. I prefer the notchy feel of a detented scroll wheel. This M505 has that. Should be a con if you prefer a smooth scroll wheel. The mouse is small and I was concerned that that was going to be a problem because I have very large hands, but it's not a problem it still feels good. Finally, I know it's just plastic, but the M505 seems to move more smoothly across my mouse pad. I like that. It just works!
