worked fine out of the box

ASUS Desktop PC CM6730-US002Q Intel Core i5-3330 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Intel HD Graphics 2500 Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
ASUS Desktop PC CM6730-US002Q Intel Core i5-3330 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Intel HD Graphics 2500 Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

Pros: The HDD is partitioned into two drives. The C-drive is a little less than half. A pleasant surprise.

Cons: The labels on the keyboard are beige-on-brown. Difficult to read (for me). I replaced it with an old keyboard. No problem. It does not come with a Win7 system disk. This is the first time I have had this happen. You have to generate your own system recovery disk.

Overall Review: I was asked if there is space inside for additional hard-drives. There is a seal on the case that says the warranty is voided if the case is opened, so I have not yet opened the case. There is probably space. You could always add an SSD and tape it to the side. It's a big case. I am satisfied with the purchase.

Most Critical Review

not sold ready for Win8 64-bit SATA III

SanDisk Extreme 2.5" 480GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDX-480G-G25
SanDisk Extreme 2.5" 480GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDX-480G-G25

Pros: This is an update for my earlier *one egg* review called: Does not work. I expected to edit that review, but can't. So the SSD would not run on Windows 8 64-bit under SATA III. But I was advised to download a firmware ISO and boot to permit the ISO to update the SSD. After going through this procedure, the SSD is working properly. So I am moving up to *three eggs*. The SSD should be Win8 ready as sold. (To Newegg, please remove my one-egg review)

Cons: Should run on Win8 without firmware update.

I guess it works.

Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 1.5TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive STAC1500100 Black
Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 1.5TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive STAC1500100 Black

Pros: I got it on sale, so it was cheap. That's good. I just finished transferring 140 gig of data with it. It was about 2 hrs and 40 minutes total. It seems that the transfer was successful. And I have the drive as a back-up. The drive did not fail.

Cons: The Setup program is very aggressive. I ran it once, figuring that I should. I did not install the back-up program. But then, every time I selected the drive from the MyComputer screen, the Setup program would start. I had to rename the program to stop this. This has not happened before to me. Then I looked around at the state of the computer after the Setup program. There were major changes. The most obvious was that my anti-virus program was shut down. There were others missing too. I decided to do a System Restore to an earlier Restore Point. That worked. This is only the second time I have done a System Restore.

Overall Review: While I was doing the System Restore, I was ready to rate this with 2-Eggs. But ignoring the problems with Setup and the Restore, I would have given it 4 or 5 Eggs. After the successful transfer, I decided to split the difference and go with 3-Eggs. I suggest you skip the Setup program.

Hanns-G 16" LCD Monitor 16 ms D-Sub HL161ABB
Hanns-G 16" LCD Monitor 16 ms D-Sub HL161ABB

Pros: Small and light. I can lift it with two fingers. It works. I really like getting rid of that heavy monitor. And I can also remember the old CRTs. This LED unit is a real advance.

Cons: Nothing. It does what I want.

maybe okay ??

Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (with Red/Green Light) Model BLT2KIT4G3D1608DT2TXRG
Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (with Red/Green Light) Model BLT2KIT4G3D1608DT2TXRG

Pros: These are rated as DDR3 1600, 8-8-8-24. The bios set them up as 1333, 9-9-9-24. So I reset to the nominal values. Then I ran Windows Mem Diag at Standard. The test froze during pass 11. Not too good. So I went back to the bios set-up with 1333, 9-9-9-24. This time it got into pass 32 before freezing. I thought it was supposed to be able to run all night without freezing. I will see how this works out in real life applications.

Cons: Maybe it is too much to expect 16 gig of memory to work perfectly all the time.

Overall Review: Under task manager, there is a sub-window called Resource (something). That let me look at how processes were using the memory. It occasionally reported a *hard fault* for memory. I don't know what that means, but the computer seemed to be working okay.

really good.

Koutech PCI to USB2.0 Card Model IO-PU520
Koutech PCI to USB2.0 Card Model IO-PU520

Pros: I opened the case. Put the board in a PCI slot. And turned on the computer. Easy. No drivers to load. The computer recognized the USB ports. I plugged a webcam into one of the new ports. Everything works great. I don't know how they can make a PCI card for this price.

Cons: None.

great seller

When the system went into the first Windows update, it hung up on the Win10 Cumulative Update. It turned out that the update package was buggy. The tech at C&C Tech Products spent 30 minutes walking me thru the fix. Great service. And the shipping was fast. Five Stars. I will buy from them again.
