Fantastic!
Pros: Amazing speed, great capacity, easy to configure. Combined with RAMDisk software, makes everything a breeze.
Cons: Not ever listed on QVL lists - not a problem, though
Overall Review: Make sure that your CPU is new enough to handle this RAM. My new CPU didn't arrive until several days later and in the time between I had to use my older RAM, as this RAM did not properly work, despite all attempts and even contact with several tech supports (they were of no help, as I had to end up teaching them about the problem) Installed 32GB (2 orders) AMD FX-9370 (formerly Phenom II 945) ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
Not pleased
Pros: Compatible with VESA mounting. After 6 years of ownership, it still works.
Cons: Stand cracked early. Display refuses to cooperate with HDMI input - use of HDMI results in screen offset, large margins, or just completely won't work. I have come to the conclusion that either the HDMI port is possessed, or ACER should stay out of the monitor business. Power button is flimsy, and not reliable. Adjustment buttons are difficult to work with if monitor is positioned at a height that is comfortable. Speaker is a joke.
Overall Review: I purchased this monitor because it listed HDMI input. The rain dance required to get HDMI to work is negated once either the computer it is connected to, or the monitor are powered off.
Still working amazingly after 3.5 years
Pros: - Still working like new, 3.5 years later. (in fact, my only USB drives that have lasted nearly this long) - Speedy
Cons: - The back of the drive cracked on all 3 drives I bought (common complaint); sometimes comes off during removal from port. Minor annoyance.
Overall Review: - Primary use of drives was for OS installations; they were frequently used to keep a network running smoothly. - Longevity of data integrity was not under consideration, as each use was initiated with a full reformat. - Often stored haphazardly; tossed into piles with system builder tools. Physical Integrity was not expected to last this long.
18month review
Pros: Octo-core - when fully utilized (read: ≤DX11 games do -not- fully utilize multi-core CPUs), this CPU is an absolute beast. In gaming, Mantle/DX12/Vulkan unlock this CPU's true potential. In productivity, this CPU performs spectacularly.
Cons: Binned from FX-9590 batch (speculation) - branding of inferiority/lack of potential; makes overclocking far more difficult. High TDP: higher temperatures can result in shorter CPU lifespan. Terrible performance in single-threaded applications (read: DX11/9 games, namely MMOs)
Overall Review: I bought this CPU by mistake while shopping for a 9590 18 months ago. Upon removing it from the Newegg box, I realized my mistake. Since Newegg only covers replacement-only with CPUs, I figured I would make do with what I had; it did come in a combo deal with a Corsair H80i (practically free) at a time when the bundled AMD coolers were unavailable. I burned it in (stability test) and then looked into overclocking it towards the 9590 stats. Complete failure. My chip only overclocks a max of +1%. Bottom of the barrel in the binning. Used with: ASUS Crossfire V Formula-Z 32GB Radeon Gamer Series DDR3-2133MHz CL10 ASUS AMD Radeon R9-290X DC2OC Corsair H80i greased with Arctic Silver Céramique.
Great for phones
Pros: Works well, fast, respectable name
Cons: Did not come with USB adaptor - not really a problem, as I expected this.
Overall Review: Installed on Samsung Ativ-S Neo Smartphone. May buy another for car stereo file storage.
Not very impressed
Pros: Complete package, works well with software, simple design, works with stock backplate - less tooling required. Pretty lights on the block, able to be configured through software. Fit well in my case, and allowed for various configurations.
Cons: LOUD! I received complaints about it sounding like an airplane taking off, could be heard across the house. While the instructions were complete, they were very vague about any issues. They do not instruct that there is a hidden cap on the 4-pin connectors that lead to the block. Instructions advise to set up fans as intake, a poor choice for thermal design inside the case. This forces the GPU to use the recycled hot air. I went with this configuration to keep my case at a positive pressure, despite the lack of fan filters on the installation spot. Many wires coming off of this unit, adding to cable-clutter inside the case. Not very simple to organize for air-flow.
Overall Review: I ended up installing separate brand fans that use hydro-dynamic bearings to reduce the noise. The noise level dramatically dropped when I installed them. I also installed the block with Artic Silver Ceramique thermal compound instead. So far it works about as well as my Cooler Master 212+ Tower Cooler that it replaced. Installation, while easy, felt awkward in attempting to ensure that thermal compound spread appropriately. Purchased this cooler in a combo with CPU&Mobo Installed on AMD FX-9370 ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z 32GB AMD Radeon Gamer Series RAM 2133MHz AMD Radeon 5870 (to be upgraded to R9 290X when available)
