Not worth the trouble

eMachines 23" LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI E233Hbd
eMachines 23" LCD Monitor 5 ms D-Sub, DVI E233Hbd

Pros: The colors are crisp, videos and games look great. I don't miss a television when watching movies on it. Basically, if you get one that works, you’re getting an awesome deal—but with the problems I’ve had dealing with this monitor for a year…I honestly don’t think it was worth it.

Cons: I purchased this on Black Friday of 2010. Within three weeks a vertical neon green line developed on the right side of the screen. I reported it to Emachines and they told me to send it in for repairs for $30. I couldn’t afford to send it immediately, so when the monitor simply quit turning on, I did. The power button showed orange flashing, as though the monitor were plugged in to a power source, but not a CPU. They returned the “repaired” monitor to me and after one week, it did the same thing. I called to ask them what repairs were made on the monitor and they informed me that no repairs were actually made, but that a “barrage” of tests were run on the monitor over a period of 27 hours, and that nothing was wrong, and also that they could not replicate the issue. They told me I could send the monitor back for another $30 and only after calling and complaining numerous times did they send me a shipping label as I had already paid to ship the monitor out for the EXACT same issue

Overall Review: They returned the repaired monitor with an invoice saying that they replaced the LCD panel. After one week, it stopped working again. I called again and was actually told that my monitor was out of warranty. This is far from true since I had had the monitor less than a year, so after telling them that I know the exact date I purchased it on, and have proof of purchase they offered to replace the monitor if I sent it in to them at my cost. Again, I refused to pay shipping after I have already lost the discount I got on Black Friday to ship it in for repairs, and have had to deal with shipping it in to them multiple times before. They finally sent the shipping label so I mailed the monitor off and received the replacement after a week. The replacement has two dead pixels but I’m not even going to bother with calling them about it. I rarely turn it off because I'm simply afraid it will happen again.
