Delivery day impressions
Pros: Got up to the 79th percentile in 3DMark's Time Spy's 4k tests for 7900 XTX cards without any tweaks. Same memory capacity as a 4090. Half the price of a 4090.
Cons: Not bundled with any games or software? Heavy, but comes with a bracket for extra support.
Overall Review: I'll submit another review once the card has had time to "break in" and I get more experience with it. I haven't used an AMD graphics card since I upgraded my HD 6870 to an Nvidia 1080 Ti. Recently that Nvidia card has been crashing at 50c, so I figured it's time to upgrade, but I couldn't justify the cost of a 4090.
Modification required.
Pros: Does the job.
Cons: Drive won't receive power if the lower right corner isn't a 90 degree angle. 2.5" adapter has to be mounted to the drive(s).
Overall Review: There's a lever in the back that pushes a button to complete the power circuit. As I said in the cons, not all drives are able to push it back far enough. This can be fixed by opening the unit and either bending the lever forward or shorting the wires so it's always on. No risk here because SATA connectors' ground leads stick out farther than data and power.
Keeps the drive cool.
Pros: Works as intended, hasn't leaked.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Replaced my motherboard's M.2 heatsink with this unit, keeps my drive temp down to 34c to 36c depending on load.
Almost 10Gb/s
Pros: Transfers are quite close to full theoretical speed.
Cons: Requires a stronger power supply than the 8-port Gigabit model it replaced.
Overall Review: I replaced a crossover cable and 8-port Gigabit switch with this unit. My two 10G cards found each other on the network without needing extra configuration. HWiNFO64 recorded a maximum speed of 1,193,780.805kb/s (9.55024Gb/s) during a 300GB transfer between two machines with NVMe SSDs. That speed wasn't constant, but it only took about 4 minutes!
Works as expected.
Pros: Wired correctly.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: This was just long enough for my needs and handles 10GB/s transfers easily.
Works as expected.
Pros: Wired correctly.
Cons: Longer than I needed, but that's on me.
Overall Review: This cable handles 10Gb/s transfers, just as I wanted.
No complaints.
