LACIE LAC9000343 2TB CloudBox - Safe in the Box. Secure in the Cloud.

1 out of 5 eggs Save your money! 01/28/2013

This review is from: LACIE LAC9000343 2TB CloudBox - Safe in the Box. Secure in the Cloud.

Pros: Absolutely a total piece of garbage! I received this for Christmas, purchased by my wife on newegg and yes set up was easy but that’s about it. From there this is useless hype. Do yourself a favor, read the reviews on Apple’s web site, believe them, and STAY AWAY!

There are other solutions, more expensive maybe, but more effective, and no noisy, constantly chirping drives out of the box that LaCie states is normal. Sorry LaCie chirping drives is not normal, and you need to stop telling people it is. I hate lies.

Apparently these have Seagate drives (according to replies from LaCie tech support) which don’t have the best reputation these days anyway, however I do use Seagate drives for all of my back ups and all of them are silent. Hmm, maybe they are bad? Should I return them for noisy ones?

Cons: Cheap build, poor quality control, noisy, bad tech support.

Other Thoughts: Replies from LaCie:

1) Thanks for contacting LaCie technical support. We have received your request for support, and I am going to forward your case to our Tier 2 department so that you can receive the most personalized support for your individual needs.

2) Thanks for contacting LaCie technical support! This is a normal sound of the drive that is to be expected. Regards

3) Thanks for the reply! Actually this is normal for these drives and the only fix regarding firmware from Seagate is for the 7200RPM versions. Please feel free to see the following:...

4) I apologize that we didn't have a better resolution for you on this. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, otherwise you can close the ticket if you feel we are finished.
I appreciate your patience. Regards
