Seiko 5 Men's SNKK31 Black Dial Self Winding Automatic Watch

5 out of 5 eggs great watch 06/12/2011

This review is from: Seiko 5 Men's SNKK31 Black Dial Self Winding Automatic Watch

Pros: I've owned this watch for several months now and it is has become my favorite. I have thin wrists, so the smallish case diameter and offset dial are a godsend. This is the first watch I've owned where the dial doesn't dig in to the back of my hand. The silver and black styling also works for both business and casual attire.

Cons: The links are attractive but use a Seiko-specific means to attach to each other instead of the typical pins. This means that if you plan on re-sizing it, you either need to take it to a jeweler, buy the specific tool, or have a LOT of patience with a standard watch link kit. I can testify that you can use the traditional mallet and pin to remove the links without marring them, but it will take awhile to get the technique right. Not really a negative egg feature since I'm the weirdo who insisted on doing it himself versus taking it to a jeweler who would probably do it for free, and the use of the "L-bar" does allow the links lock up tight and makes it so you don't have to worry about bending a pin when fiddling with it.

Other Thoughts: I was a little worried that the self-winding feature would mean I'd have to wear it all the time or it would stop. Turns out that's not a big deal -- after the first few days of wearing it around, I've never had it stop, even after sitting on the shelf for a day.

V568 Black Hawk Mini RC Remote Control Gyro Helicopter

5 out of 5 eggs Way more than I was expecting 05/20/2011

This review is from: V568 Black Hawk Mini RC Remote Control Gyro Helicopter

Pros: I've been seeing a lot of these mini RC helos on sale, and every time I'm about to pull the trigger I check reviews and get reports of terrible quality, broken parts, etc. The V568 proved the exception to this rule, and I have not been disappointed. It's relatively simple to learn and great fun to fly around. Trim control actually works and only starts to fail in the last 2-3 second of battery life. Being able to charge it either via the controller or USB port offers great flexibility. So far the parts have been robust enough to survive multiple encounters with the ceiling, furniture, and cat, and the inclusion of multiple spare parts in the package was a very nice touch.

Cons: Flying time is only about 5-6 minutes per ~30 minute charge, but frankly that seems to be average, and is understandable given how tiny the battery has to be.

Other Thoughts: For the price this is a great deal. Finally an affordable RC helicopter that actually works!

Pros: Seconding all of the praise below. I bought this RAM in May of '05 and its still performing like a champ. Never had any issues (knock on wood).

Cons: I'm not into OCing or anything, so none!
