MSI H87-G43 LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX High Performance CF Intel Motherboard

Pros: -Good price
-Solidly built
-Well labeled
-Good heatsyncs

Cons: -2 poorly placed sata connectors
-A large CPU fan can cause problems for RAM slots

Other Thoughts: This is a good middle of the road motherboard. It has decent sized heat syncs and is labeled well.

I only have a couple of issues with it. There are two sata connections that are stacked on top of each other. The motherboard comes with 2 sata cables that have 90 degree angles on them for this connection. It isn't the greatest set up in the world because once the mobo is in the case, you can't actually see the connections since they are horizontal to you. The other issue I have is that the RAM slots get a bit close if you have a large CPU fan (I have an Hyper 212 EVO). You can just get the RAM in there, but it is closer than I would like it to be.

Overall, this is a good board for the price. I understand that I could get a lot more, but if you are looking for a middle of the road mobo for a decent price, this is a good pick. The two issues I talked about weren't quite enough to knock it down to a 4 egg, I would give it 4.5 if could.

GIGABYTE Radeon R7 240 DirectX 11.1 GV-R724OC-2GI 2GB 128-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: -Good Price
-Nice sized fan

Cons: -Doesn't support 1440

Other Thoughts: This is a good video card and will get the job done for most people. I just want people to be aware that if you intend on getting a 1440 resolution monitor, you need to go a step up. I made the mistake of thinking that it would and for a short while thought that I had been delivered a dead monitor. If you want to run a 1440 monitor you will need to step up to at least the R7 260. This will support it. If you plan on gaming, you need to go up higher than this, but I only use it for photo editing and it works fine for me.

Again, it is a good card, just wish it would support 1440.

CORSAIR CX-M series CX430M 430W 80 PLUS BRONZE Active PFC ATX12V & EPS12V Modular Power Supply
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: -Fast
-Good Value

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: This is good mid level memory. It was $60 when I bought it. You might be able to find 8GB for about $10 less from time to time, but $60 isn't a bad price. It works great and Crucial is a pretty reliable product. Happy with the purchase and will probably get another 8GB at some point.
