Follow the directions and you can't go wrong.
FAST, EASY, Setup.
Small light ,
Excited to try out this niche tech with Xbox one, ipads and laptops, and ip cameras.
This niche product in theory will allow you to connect to their wifi or wired connection and share the signal to other wireless devices.
If you happen to bring along your chromecast. One could stream to the hotel HDTV to watch netflix, hulu, etc
Cons: The devil are in the details.
This device is NOT compatible with Captive portals.
Can be a limiting factor for some motel/hotels.
Beware -AP - Repeater Mode was a huge pain for me.
No extra bells or whistles:
No USB port
No 3.5 jack
Other Thoughts: TEW-817DTR (Version v1.0R)
Travel socket Adapters
A toggle switch on the bottom of the unit sets 3 respective modes.
AP MODE/WISP MODE = Same Button...
Instructions say to set for WISP mode !!!
I second this advice....(Anecdotal Experience)
Otherwise You will fight with this device in AP-Repeater mode.
Constant timeouts and disconnects and power cycling.
It felt like the device was possessed. (I noticed a firmware update 1-13-17)
My IP cameras are 2.4ghz only, they would NOT consistently connect to the AP in repeating mode.
They decided to go offline instead of using the weaker original wifi router signal from upstairs. (Using as a repeater the extender shares the same name as the original SSID)
I did not have any issues in WISP mode, it works as intended and was able to extend my WI-fi in dead spots in the house.
The cost of the unit and the ability to travel on the go and route you signal to multiple devices is absolutely amazing 5 eggs!
Pros: Decent components.
Good Entry level Power Supply.
Waste not want not with Semi modular design. Good For Cable Management.
Serviceable Power supply with a 3 year warranty.
Corsair great build quality.
Cons: There' always a chance of coil whine, but none found here.
No cons for this unit.
Other Thoughts: Tested it on multiple machines at home and work.
All devices booted fine.
If your on the fence get it at this price point.
This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WPA4220 N300 AV500 Wi-Fi Powerline Add-On Extender
Pros: Works as Wi-fi AP to eliminate dead spots in your home. However it works best as a powerline Ethernet connection. One caveat you must already have a powerline kit already setup. Doesn't have to be the same brand either. It will connect to your existing powerline kit via pairing button . Similar to connecting a WPS device.
Has two Ethernet jacks . Good for setting up a smart tv, cable box , older style Xbox and Xbox 360.
Currently resides in my kids bedroom to connect their arcade Xbox 360 to the network.
Now they can stream YouTube or plex. It has breathed new life into this device.
Also saved me from buying a Xbox wifi adapter.
Cons: Wifi signal has weak throughputREAD FULL REVIEW
