EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card 512-P3-N801-AR
EVGA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Graphics Card 512-P3-N801-AR

Pros: Works in my Dell XPS 400 - easy to install - great quality - not very noisy

Cons: Wish I could fit it in my HP m9300t

Overall Review: This card is easy to install. At first I used the drivers that came with the DVD. The next day I downloaded updated drivers from Nividia and the card runs much quieter. Nividia must have a lower fan speed. I love the card and I think for around $130 it is an excellent value. If you are thinking about getting either this card or the 9800 GT, get the 8800 GT on sale. The 8800 GT has similar specs and many of the early 9800 GT cards just seem to be renamed 8800 GT. So you might save yourself some money. If you are not a heavy gamer but want something nice for graphic processing and watching DVDs on your computer then get this card.

Not impressed

SAMSUNG 2493HM Glossy Black 24" DVI HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor with Height/Pivot Adjustments 400 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in Speakers
SAMSUNG 2493HM Glossy Black 24" DVI HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor with Height/Pivot Adjustments 400 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in Speakers

Pros: Very bright, nice colors.

Cons: Sharpness of the display is not comparable to my old 19 inch ultrasharp Dell monitors. I am running the Samsung monitors on a different computer than the Dell monitors so this might be a factor, but from a monitor that costs almost $500 I expect nothing but perfection regardless of the computer.

Overall Review: For looking at photos these monitors are stunning. But I do not find them as comfortable to use for word processing as I find my old three year old 19inch Dell Ultrasharps. The Samsung monitor seems to lack in sharpness in comparison to the Dell. I might have received a bad monitor, but that would be a risk potential buyers should be aware of. I have also found the Samsung monitors to be bleeding a little on both sides. It is not really noticeable, but if you are a borderline OCD perfectionist, then again you might consider this. Overall I love the size of the 24 inch display, but I am not impressed by the quality of the monitor. Also, the stand looks nice but is a little bit bigger than maybe necessary. Space on my desk is precious real-estate and the Samsung monitor uses quite a bit of it. My suggestion is give Samsung a try, but be prepared to not like this monitor and return it.

It sucks :(

Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2008 3 user
Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2008 3 user

Pros: Company has a great reputation

Cons: I have been using Symantec Antivirus for at least five years. Recently the software found a virus on my computer, but can't remove it. Everything I tried failed. It might be a vista issue, but what is the point in having virus protection software if it does not remove viruses.

Overall Review: Don't buy Symantec. Check online reviews. There are plenty of long time Symantec users who are very unhappy with Symantec's latest products. Something must have gone horribly wrong with that company. I am now trying Kaspersky. Hopefully that works, or I am hosed :(.

Bad!

COBY DP882 8" 800 x 600 Digital Photo Frame with MP3 Player
COBY DP882 8" 800 x 600 Digital Photo Frame with MP3 Player

Pros: It does not cause athletes feet

Cons: It plain sucks

Overall Review: According to the specifications this product should be great. I was very disappointed when I tried it. I bought this as a gift for my mom. The picture quality is not anywhere near the Kodak frames and I very much doubt whether the product actually meets the specifications in regard to brightness and contrast ratio as advertised. In addition, hocking that thing up to a PC via USB cable is just a pain.

Don't buy it

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade

Pros: Vista looks nice

Cons: The migration from XP to Vista just does not work properly. Microsoft help service not very competent

Overall Review: I upgraded from XP to Vista. I had an error list of about 250 issues. Most of them were solvable. It took me about two solid days of work. Now I stuck with the hard ones. My advice for anyone folish enough to install Vista is to deinstall everything that you can either download for free from the web or that you don't really need. Strip your software to the bare minimum before migrating. You might not need many of the little programs that you had under XP under Vista. Those little programs are huge sources of trouble. Make sure you deinstall your Virus protection and Firewall before running the upgrade. Reinstall them after the upgrade, but they are sources of trouble too. If you are smart, stay away from Vista. The Microsoft help service is somewhere in China and they are really nice, but they have a problem admitting if they can't help you and directing you to someone who can. Too bad Microsoft is the only commercial OS out there - aside from Apple's OS. Wish I would switch.
