Reliable

Xerox DocuMate 152 XDM152D-WU Duplex Sheetfed Document Scanner
Xerox DocuMate 152 XDM152D-WU Duplex Sheetfed Document Scanner

Pros: We bought this for a proof of concept. We intended to replace it with a much more robust scanner before we went live. It worked so well that we've never replaced it. It isn't the fastest thing on the planet, but we've put about 100,000 pages through it and its still going, not what I would expect from a little home office document scanner.

Cons: It is relatively slow compared to other scanners but we just put a stack on it hit the button and walk away. It does jam occaisionally but usually that's because the paper is wrinkled or someone put to big of a stack in not because the machine itself is prone to jamming

Overall Review: I was actually coming on here to look into buying another one, Alas the pick pad and rollers are wearing out and since we've been less than gentle to it I figured we'd replace it rather than buy parts worth half the price we paid for it. Also if you get the newegg emails watch for this to go on deal, it does so regularly.

Good Printing but Short Lived

HP Officejet 6000 C9295A Up to 32 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality Ethernet (RJ-45) / USB / Wi-Fi InkJet Workgroup Color Printer
HP Officejet 6000 C9295A Up to 32 ppm Black Print Speed 4800 x 1200 dpi Color Print Quality Ethernet (RJ-45) / USB / Wi-Fi InkJet Workgroup Color Printer

Pros: Good print quality, cheap duplex and wired networking

Cons: I have had 3 of this "Generation" hp printers. 2 for work and this one for home. Both the ones at work died within 2-3 months. HP moved the print heads off the cartridge and into a separate carriage, this makes ink cheaper but they apparently don't know how to make long lasting print heads. The carriage died on both of those and now my one at home is showing the lines that the other two showed right before they died. Talked to the local HP Authorized repair shop and they said nobody (not even the repair guys) can get new carriages.

Overall Review: In the past I've always had really good luck with HP printers. I've still got a G85 that runs. I really think this has mostly to do with the fact that all my previous HP printers had the print head built into the cartridge. I'm confident enough in HP that I still had my sister buy an 8500 (next generation) for school. But for work where we but a lot of pages through them we'll be waiting a while before getting another one.
