Great little system! Quick, quiet and clean!
Pros: Small form factor, black case, easy to open. Refurbished- cleaned everything and it shows that they care about their customers and products.
Cons: Packaging as a little less than desirable.
Overall Review: Great system to run a NVR with Blue Iris software. Was able to very easily remove the provided hard drive and install my own NVR/DVR quality unit. Used a good copy of Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit and the provided license key to install the system. Have been running it for around two weeks without issue. Seems to be as rock solid as any Windows box will be.
Excellent WDS Solution
Pros: Clean, contemporary design. Clients look for a clean and professional appearance. Geeks not so much. These devicess mount and look great sitting next to a keystone panel with an Ethernet port with PoE on it. No unsightly power brick, just a simple cat5 patch cable neatly coiled. The interface (GUI) is fairly easy to understand. Once you realize that whenever you change the basic role of the device, the options change to coincide with that.
Cons: The data and connectivity LEDs are positioned on the rear. Once the unit is mounted, one cannot see these diagnostic LEDs. It would be nice to have a panel to pop open on the front or side for the sake of viewing this data.
Overall Review: I setup a pair of these in WDS Access Point mode and WDS Station mode to serve a detached building with a security camera. The remote unit is mounted high up on the inside, facing a 2x8 beam and an outside wall. The main unit is positioned (temporarily) in the middle of the building, in the basement level. I am able to get 90-120Mbps throughput as well as a clean, reliable link. I ran a speed test from the remote site and was able to achieve 90+% of my ISPs speed. I assume 10% loss is due to the overhead of the wireless link. I was so happy with the performance of these radios that I used a pair of these at a client's office, where a hardline connection would not be cost effective, due to concrete floor/walls. This solution provided my client with a hardwire port for a hosted VoIP phone and a laptop, via a simple 5 port switch.
Bad Bad Bad
Zero customer service, had to bring in Newegg to resolve a purchase. Would never deal with this outfit again!
