Most Favorable Review

Good inexpensive cpu

Intel Celeron G530 - Celeron Sandy Bridge Dual-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 1155 65W Intel HD Graphics Desktop Processor - BX80623G530
Intel Celeron G530 - Celeron Sandy Bridge Dual-Core 2.4 GHz LGA 1155 65W Intel HD Graphics Desktop Processor - BX80623G530

Pros: Cheap, I got this for $45. Generally I prefer AMD but this time I went Intel for an HTPC build as I had a spare graphics card so Llano and trinity were out and I didn't fancy putting the frankly old athlon II in a new build. Does this compare to my overclocked 6 core 1055t? No, but it gets the job done

Cons: Boot time with an SSD is slow, around 20 seconds. with my 1055t and an ssd my main rig boots in 8 seconds ready for the internet, if I try and do too much like rip a cd while watching netflix it slows down. Kind of slow for gaming. But for what I want it for it is perfect, low heat, low cost, plenty fast enough for an HTPC

Overall Review: Don't bother with an i3 or an i5 for an htpc, unless you plan on gaming. This little cpu is all you really need. Hopefully AMD will get back to being king of budget, their current offerings in this segment really aren't worth it right now, the FX series is too power hungry and hot without enough performance for an htpc, they've stopped making the frankly brilliant thubans and the athlons and phenoms show their age.

Most Critical Review

Doesn't fit with aftermarket heatsink

Crucial Ballistix Active Cooling Fan
Crucial Ballistix Active Cooling Fan

Pros: The actual item is very nice, solidly built, very shiny and classy finish, there is a lot to like about this. Except

Cons: If you are running an aftermarket heatsink on an AMD board this item will most likely not fit. I have a coolermaster V8. The positioning of the RAM on AMD boards is very close to the cpu. This is more AMDs fault than Crucials, but if you buy this cooler (or probably most aftermarket RAM coolers) it likely won't fit. Since you are likely to have an aftermarket CPU cooler if you are buying a RAM cooler (If not, what the hell are you doing, unless you are running wc) you should know this info if you are running an AMD board

Overall Review: I got this for free with 4gb ballistix tracer, so it doesn't upset me that much

Not working anywhere close to advertised speeds

Team T-Force Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model TLGD416G3000HC16CDC01
Team T-Force Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model TLGD416G3000HC16CDC01

Pros: I don't know if it is the RAM or the BIOS on the motherboard (AsRock Taichi AM4 X370)

Cons: Got a lot of BSOD memory dumps. Right now I'm running this at 1600 with 15 timings.

Overall Review: I may be able to get these faster than 1600 at 15. But when it defaults to 2133 (Can't remember the exact speed, something like that) at 15 my PC crashes. Is it a fault with a stick of RAM? Both? The motherboard Bios? Not sure yet, but they're certainly not working as fast as they should.

Best looking case I've ever seen

IN WIN 904.PLUS Black 2mm / 4mm Aluminum, Tempered Glass ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
IN WIN 904.PLUS Black 2mm / 4mm Aluminum, Tempered Glass ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Beautiful, looks even better in person than in photo's. Drop in some case lights and they glow just a little through the darkened tempered glass. Really clean and pleasing look. Aluminum and glass dissipate heat very well. I have a corsairh55 and my temps for my CPU (Not overclocked currently) are below 20c, this is in California while it has been very hot. MB temp is around 26c. I have 1 120mm and 1 92 mm fan. I'm so glad someone has finally made a case that doesn't look like a cheesy Transformer. The layout is far superior to the Antec 900 I was using before (which is, I admit an old design)

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I bought an Antec Kuhler H20 650. It will not fit in the case, had to buy a different cooler and eat the cost. This is after my original Cooler Master V8 wouldn't fit (But I knew that when I bought the case). Just be very aware of what cooler will fit. t's not a con of the case, just something to think about.

Great stuff

Fluance XL7F High Performance Home Theater Three-way Floorstanding Tower Loudspeakers
Fluance XL7F High Performance Home Theater Three-way Floorstanding Tower Loudspeakers

Pros: Great music separation, fantastic imaging and soundstage. Excellent build quality and brilliant price.

Cons: If you have these too close to a wall the bass will get muddy and distorted due to the rear ports, either move them away from the wall or stuff with socks

Overall Review: I've had these a while, they put out some great bass, midrange is very nicely defined due to the four midrange drivers, the highs are good, silk domes to me sound better than any other tweeter, when they break up they do so nicely, compare these to horns.. I get tired of listening to horns or metal dome tweeters within an hour, these I can and have listened to all day and night.

Best Cartridge there is in this price range

Audio-Technica AT95E Dual Magnet Cartridge
Audio-Technica AT95E Dual Magnet Cartridge

Pros: Cheap, I got this for $46. I don't know much about turntables but this is the cartridge that comes highly recommended by every knowledgeable person I talked to. There are better cartridges for more money, but anything less than $100, this is the one to get, that's what I was told and yes this delivers and then some. I picked up some old vinyl, Rolling Stones sticky fingers that I have on CD... The sound is incomparable, the vinyl just blows away the cd in every way

Cons: It didn't make me a cup of tea.

Overall Review: This is everything everybody said this cart would be and then some more.
