ASUS VE248H 24" Full HD 1920 x 1080 D-Sub, DVI, HDMI Built-in Speakers Asus Eye Care with Ultra Low-Blue Light & Flicker-Free LED Backlight Monitor

Pros: Crisp, clean picture at an affordable price.

Cons: It takes a little bit of time to tweak the brightness and contrast levels to obtain a balanced picture.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL

Pros: The set is fast and well-priced.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I can get the set to run at 1594Mhz with 8-9-8-20 at the rated voltage of 1.5v. However, with the rated timings of 9-9-9-24, I cannot get the RAM to run at 1600Mhz without bumping the voltage to 1.7 volts. This isn't a problem as 6Mhz isn't anything to lose sleep over, especially with the tighter timings.

Well Worth the Price

Intel Core i7-950 - Core i7 Bloomfield Quad-Core 3.06 GHz LGA 1366 130W Processor - BX80601950

Pros: With the relatively recent price drop to $300, this processor is a steal. It has strong benchmark scores, overclocks well, and is powerful right out of the box. It's fast, it's stable, and it multitasks like a champ. If you want high-end speed and versatility without paying the premiums for the 980x, 970, etc, buy this processor now.

Cons: It's true, the heatsink isn't fantastic, but are you looking at the i7 950 to buy a heatsink or to buy a great processor? Exactly. Buy the processor.

CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMT6GX3M3A1600C7

Pros: This RAM is fast and stable, and it easily goes faster than advertised while maintaining said stability. The bonus cooling fan is effective, and not to mention that this entire system (RAM and fan combined) both look and work great with my Asus Rampage III Formula board.

Cons: I had to buy this RAM from another retailer because Newegg has been out of stock for awhile. I will definitely buy my second set from Newegg, however, because I am in no rush.

Pros: For only $20, you can't really beat this drive. It is reliable and effective. It makes a great primary drive for those who do not have bluray drives. For the price it would also be a good back-up, replacement, or secondary drive. I highly recommend it.

Cons: It can get a little loud at times, but it's a DVD drive. They do that.

Hyper 212 Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: The Hyper 212 Plus keeps my i7 950 nice and cool, even under heavy loads. Already includes one fan, and with an additional fan (sold separately), this cooler has an unprecedented price to performance ratio. It's $30, how can you go wrong?

Cons: Second fan for push-pull isn't included, but what do you expect for $30?
