HTCP
Pros: Classic high quality Asus product, true hd and dts hd WORK, for manual use the one on the cd, for installation, HDMI out of MOBO or video card to xonar in, and, out to receiver, pop the card in and install driver of the cd, don't do anything in BIOS, select xonar SPDIF as default in playback devices, push the arrow down on Asus xonar interface box and select HDMI on the left side of the pop up box, then 5.1 or 7.1 for speakers, select HDMI passthrough in TMT, and it's DONE. HDMI and HDMI to DVI cables come with the card. Very, very small card, will work with microATX cases.
Cons: TotalMedia version 2 something, no MCE extensions for $150?! Cyberlink 9 does not work with this card, would have been nice to get them on board since a lot of people(including me) spend $100 for their software.
Overall Review: Good job ASUS, HTCP for Blue Ray is alive and well. I'm very excited, very happy, and, very broke. GA-MA78G-DS3H ver 1, AMD 9950, HK AVR-254
disappointment
Pros: decent board , easy bios , easy to configure . oc a 6600 to 2.9ghz at 43C with no load .
Cons: very expensive , cheasy sata connectors and controller , waisted half day diagnosing sata problems that maybe asus quality control should find when relessing a new product . end up with a RMA .
Overall Review: still have faith in asus , bad things happens , lets hope next one will be better .
high end case
Pros: a dream coming true, filters for fans, space for everything without piling up components, no heat issues with or without case fans, remove the PCI connector if you're not using a video card, this is a gamer case not a HTPC case unless you stand up the case. recommend the SFX PS from Silverstone 450w gold, nice and quiet.
Cons: using a slim drive, reformat HDD and then i did not know how to eject the dvd with no OS, every time after restart i was rebooting on dvd , after reopening the case and removing the dvd i was finally able to load the OS dvd, so.... please, put a eject button on this case. one of the 120mm case fans was broken, no damage on the box, more of the silverstone problem than newegg, anybody stepping up to the plate? i don't want to RMA the case.
Overall Review: Don't secure PS to the case until installing HDD and plugging wires unless you like doing things twice.
Pros: Latest and greatest Nvidia card, it does play smooth everything you'll throw at it, and it better for $500. After installing the ASUS OC utility, GPU-Z does recognize the correct bus, PCI express 3, which is not what I've seen in TomH and X-bit reviews, and, that is great news.
Cons: price and availability.
Overall Review: Made the mistake of buying 2 day shipping with rush fee. card arrived in 4. Thought Newegg has the greatest shipping and receiving in the world, I guess I was wrong.
Awesome
Pros: Ivy Bridge compatible, 3 USB3 headers on the board, Realtek 898, dual lan, down to earth price. Instalattion was a breeze. I always wanted an Asus board, but this is just unbeatable. Dropped a 3770k, was recognized without a bios update. Intel lan and ALC898 are impressive. SATA controllers set default is AHCI for SSD.
Cons: Bios ( or UEFI) seems a bit hard to use when it comes to memory: XMP profile, 1333, 1600 settings. Not a big deal, I'll update it anyway.
Overall Review: If you know what you are looking for this board is hard to pass. In my opinion, one of the best Z77 boards. OC is available and works, cpu multiplier, FSB, it's all there. To early to push the CPU to the limit, easy to get 4Ghz on stock Intel heatsink. Very nice system monitoring status pages. Pair with Kingston HyperX 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model KHX1866C9D3K4/16GX
Review update
Pros: Rebate arrived in 29 days since purchased, impressive. PNY really cares about their customers, my next video card or memory will be nothing but PNY. Send a rebate to Zotac too, never got a email from them yet.
Cons: None
Overall Review: In the original review I stated a 5.5 in WEI. Since then I tried the other memory slots and a 9 setting for CAS instead of the XMP, still end up with 5.5. I see other people getting a 7.4 in WEI. Maybe is the MOBO, ASROCK Z68.
