Replacement for E19T6W Monitor
Pros: I bought this in hopes that it would work with my E-Machines Monitor (E19T6W - 19" Widescreen) as it has a non-conventional plug. (Looks identical to the one shown in this picture, rather then the standard 3 prong d-shaped plug you find on most electronics.) So for the record I have tested it on my monitor and it does infact work awesomely as a replacement cable for that monitor. So if you need an extra for your e-machines monitor (E19T6W) just a heads up this cable should work for you. No leap of faith purchase needed :D Anyway I hope this helps anyone else looking to get a second/replacement cord for this particular monitor. :)
Cons: None yet. This cable appears to be much more durable then the original one that came with the monitor. Its also cheaper from StarTech's website but they charge way too much in shipping for it to work out to a good deal... :)
Overall Review: I wanted a second cable for this for my travel box for LAN parties. E-Machine's tech support was less then helpful in helping me find a place to buy a cord. They basically told me they couldn't tell me where to buy a replacement or sell me one and to try a local shop in my town. None of the stores in my town carry any cords like this. So I happened to find this on new egg and tried it :)
Probably a great card... :D
Pros: It was quieter then my GeForce 9800 GTX. Probably a bit more powerful.
Cons: Sadly mine was mentally deficient or something. If used for any amount of time or just left on for a week solid, the screen would fill with miscellaneous artifacts that would not go away until it had been shut down for a solid minute. I tried to work with this for a while. By continually updating the drivers. It would work for about half a day then go nuts. With the newest drivers (260.99 I think?) games became unplayable. Like the geometry was inverted or something. Rolling it back to an older one made no difference. Finally gave up. Newegg was nice enough to RMA it for store credit. Going to try a different brand/model next week.
Overall Review: Bought this one because I was strapped for cash at the time but I was planning to give away my current card. I think next time I'll be less rushed into making a buy and get something with a bunch of confirmed good reviews. There were only two reviews total for this item when I made this purchase. Sorry if this review is not as helpful as some others. :D
Great little box until this morning. :)
Pros: I've been using this little box since I got it back in December 2011 and it's traveled a few times via road trip to other locations and back without issue. This weekend I took it for it's final trip down the street to my work where we used it for Global Game Jam 2014. It worked smoothly while there. I've ran a JBOD 6TB array with 2 3TB Seagate Barracuda XT drives (Model: ST33000651AS) and a 2TB mirror using 2 2TB Samsung HD204UI's basically since getting it. I've never really had an issue with the box until today. All issues I had were I'm sure related to the free Rocket Raid card that came with it.
Cons: As of this morning the box will not power up even with no drives attached. I'm assuming something finally popped inside it. I looked around for a fuse in it but didn't find anything. :( If anyone has some suggestions for me to try before I look into replacing this I'm open to suggestions. The included Rocket Raid Card caused a ton of bluescreen errors under Windows 7 even after upgrading the firmware. Didn't happen when my mirror array drives were not in the box. Included RR card finally died July 2013. I replaced it with Item# N82E16816115130 as I read that the free one didn't supply enough bandwidth through PCIe Slot to power my mirror array so I figured it was worth a try. Installed it and it pulled my raid config off the drives which I was worried wouldn't happen. Rarely does this new card drop offline... Like once every 2-3 months but when it does there's an audible alarm. I fix it by rebooting the machine. The only bad thing I can say about the TR4M+B though is that it died today and I can't afford to replace it right now. But I'd say it gave me a good run for my money. Just wish it would have lasted a lot longer.
Overall Review: If you're having problems with this box maybe try a different raid card? Would I buy this again? I'm considering it. But I don't want a restocked one that may have been sent back from another reviewer. :-\ I'm sure a few of them do actually have issues and I hear the horror stories of getting a restocked item several times after purchasing a poorly reviewed item. Maybe I just got lucky with this one though /shrug I may try it again come payday.
