ADATA 16GB S102 Pro Advanced USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 100MB/s (AS102P-16G-RGY)

Pros: This is a very resilient drive. I've accidentally laundered it twice (with the cap on, that is) and put it through the industrial dryer once and it has yet to malfunction and still has its full capacity.

does not come with an annoying hardcoded drive mount for software

Cons: will not quick format in my USB 3.0 ports

SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 1.0

  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: For the price I paid for it this player seemed a good buy for a decent while and did behave sort of well
The battery life did last fairly long as long as the brightness was turned all the way down.
Sd card expansion slot was helpful
doesn't require special software to copy music to and takes the various mp3 encoding I tend to have.

Cons: Battery seems to be of inferior make like a lot of the review mention. My battery was heating up and appeared to be in an overload condition.
Thankfully it did not explode as the player sensibly turned off but it didn't mention why it was doing so. Would have liked to know it was having severe technical problems before suddenly having my thumb in pain grabbing the thing!
The SD port is flimsy and the player just plain locked up whenever it lost contact inside so you have to shut it all the way down then turn it back on.
The clip is inordinately flimsy and doesn't spread far so there's a limit on the places you can anchor it to and not have it break sooner rather than later.
If you want over 8 hours of battery life you have to turn down brightness so far but that means the display isn't viewable in daylight.
The drive as mounted in explorer isn't an actual storage device so taggers can't run on the device itself unless built for that sort of thing.
Doesn't like Ogg too well.

Other Thoughts: In all I would not recommend this product due to the potentional danger the battery poses if not the constant freezing and flimsy clip and limited running length at a brightness you can actually see the display at outside..
