Works well - when I figured out how

SYBA SY-IDE2CF-DU Dual Ultra IDE to 2x Compact Flash Adapter
SYBA SY-IDE2CF-DU Dual Ultra IDE to 2x Compact Flash Adapter

Pros: Good function for the price. Ideally suited for a low-powered mirrored boot disk for a home server - which is my application. Good support for a $13 item - see other thoughts. Contrary to other reports, my unit plugged into the IDE port on my motherboard and held two CFs sturdily enough that I will leave them that way.

Cons: Primarily documentation related. The documentation is very sketchy. Although again, probably not unreasonable for a $13 item. I had some difficulties in getting to run, and found the problem on my own.

Overall Review: I had problems. The card recognized one but not two CF cards at a time. No amount of dinking with it would make this work. I sent a request for support to Syba over the issue. It turns out that even though the card works from 3.3V or 5V, and the CF cards I used (Transcend 2G) work from either voltage, my motherboard would read one disk but not two if the power jumper is set to 3.3V on the adapter. The literature says that 5V is the default setting on the card, but mine came with it set for 3.3V and I didn't notice. That cost me about three hours of debugging. So - on any new adapter, read all the literature, and inspect the card jumpering carefully. Syba did respond to my email helpfully, and was ready to exchange the article. I suggested that they note this issue on their web site under their support FAQ. But I'm now satisfied. It gets four eggs instead of five only because the docos were confusing, and I'm used to reading documentation.
