So far so good

ZyXEL NBG419N Wireless Home Router IEEE 802.11b/g/n
ZyXEL NBG419N Wireless Home Router IEEE 802.11b/g/n

Pros: I had this router for 3 days now. In fact, I had first placed an order for a similarly priced Trendnet n router but then decided to cancel the order upon reading reviews -- accordingly, the Trendnet router gets hot, it drops connection frequently perhaps because it gets hot, the router stops working after a few months, again because of the heat. I was deterred. Anyway, with the Zyxel,so far so good. I plugged in my modem, made sure I got internet through lan first, set up new password, and then set up Wpa2 security. Signal strenth is excellent everywhere in my apartment (which is not saying much considering that my place is small... but perhaps I'll start testing the strength by taking my laptop out to my car...); the wifi works just as my connection works when it's wired. Some tips: In the beginning, the router has to set itself, so each configuration takes about a minute or two to register. Give the router some time and go to http://192.168.1.1 to access the router and its con

Cons: Not really a con since it isn't related to the router and there is a way to solve it, but when playing online games, there is a serious lag issue. For those on Windows 7 and Vista, this problem can be resolved by downloading a simple program called "Wlan Optimizer". For that programn, I'd recommmend these settings: autoconfig ON; background scan OFF; enable Stream mode ON. By default Win 7 and Vista have backgroubd scan on and stream mode off. With those values changed, the lag and ping issues I was having while playing games completely disappeared. Do not set autoconfig OFF. If you do you'll have to restart and reset everything. (And if you have to set autoconfig off and you lose your connection, reset by going into control panel -> admistrative tools -> services -> wlan autoconfig --> start, etc...; also it might be neccesary to remove and reinstall a network under "manage wireless networks"... )

Overall Review: I don't have much experience with laptops and wifi and all that, but so far this router enables me to surf, download, email, and play games, exactly as if my computer were wired directly to the modem. The lag problem is a fixable and also the setup was easy enough, although since I'm new to everything, I didn't feel as though I knew exactly what I was doing. The router itself after nonstop 3 days use does not feel hot to the touch or anything. It feels only slightly warm. I took a chance with Zyxel; I like the advertisement they have at other sites and for the money-31 bucks and some change- it was the best, most affordable option for the 8.0211n specs, two antenna router. I'm glad I got it. Hope it keeps working for a few more years. And if it doesn't, I'll come back here and write about it.

Not practical and not comfortable

Turnda Leather Power Recliner with Shiatsu Massage
Turnda Leather Power Recliner with Shiatsu Massage

Pros: Looks modern, sleek, stylish. Seems to be made of good materials.

Cons: The shiatsu massage requires the removal of the back padding, which might seem easy but is not since the interior pad is tucked into the bottom corner. The shiatsu massage is useless with those pads on and, ultimately, is a labor to use in its own way. 2nd, I highly recommend buying a manual recliner. Power recliners are tedious to get in and get out of. Believe me. If you are planning to use your recliner in any substantial way, then you should consider another recliner. Last point: Not comfortable. After a week, the padding seems to have packed in and is now firm as can be. And even when it was new, it wasn't a very comfortable recliner. I've sat recliners in stores and others' homes that were far and away more comfortable. This chair is NOT comfortable and I do not recommend it for daily use.

Overall Review: Even at a whopping 500 dollar discount, this chair makes for a regrettable buy. But again it looks nice. I'll always have that, I guess. But I would rather have a different recliner.

Defective speakers, external drives not recognizerd

TOSHIBA Thrive AT105-T1016 NVIDIA Tegra 2 1.00GHz 10.1" 1GB DDR2 Memory 16GB Storage Tablet Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
TOSHIBA Thrive AT105-T1016 NVIDIA Tegra 2 1.00GHz 10.1" 1GB DDR2 Memory 16GB Storage Tablet Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)

Pros: Nice screen. Looks great, on paper...

Cons: Speakers are terribly low. You need to adjust the volume settings, with volume boost and other to get the volume at reasonable audible levels. But what's worse is that one of the speakers crackles. This is totally unacceptable to me. I initially went for the Toshiba because of its connectivity - its USB ports and all that. But, what's the use of USB if the Thrive can't recognize them? I've got very typical externa harddrives made by Ioemega. They are not recognized at all by the Thrive. The cameras aren't very good. You're not going to use them and think "Wow, this is very clear." Rather you'll be thinking about how much better the webcam on your old laptop is. 2mb front and 5mb rear camera sound great, but, BEWARE, as the cameras do not turn out to be all that they can be.

Overall Review: Overall, I'm not happy with the tablet. Currently, I'm trying to get this unit replaced. I hope NewEgg will accomodate my request and remedy my situation as fast as possible.

Very dissappointed with customer service

Mee audio Original Series SX-31 In-Ear Earphones for iPod and MP3 Players (black)
Mee audio Original Series SX-31 In-Ear Earphones for iPod and MP3 Players (black)

Pros: Read the cons first.

Cons: Earbuds were advertised as having "gold-plated" connectors in the title. I wrote about this in a previous review which Newegg.com didn't publish. Here's what they did instead. They edited out the "gold-plated" from the title. (Now the item title reads: MEElectronics SX-31-BK 3.5mm Connector Canal Noise-Sealing Earbud (Black)" And then they had a guy write to me in response stating that they found no indication that the item was ever advertised as having gold-plated connector! Great way to insult the intelligence of your customers. I wasn't bothered much before by this misadvertisement and but now I am. Newegg: Don't misadvertise your products, and then when your customers complain about said misadvertisement, don't edit your webpages and then act as though your customers were wrong in the first place. It's dishonest. BTW, you FORGOT to edit the other webpage. This earbud comes in the color white - and on that page the misadvertisement still exists!

Overall Review: I had no problem with newegg before this product even if it is - or was - misadvertised in a small way. But this kind of shady customer service business really does tell me something. I've spent over a thousand dollars here at newegg.com. I will not be patronizing them again. You guys want bad publicity, you just earned it.

Acer Laptop Aspire Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 4GB Memory 320GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit AS5739G-6959

Pros: Still a great laptop... but there's a lot of finetuning with the settings that should be done to get the most of it; EQ can be cust. First of all, the sound is far better than I initially thought. Update the Realtek drivers (you'll need to download drivers directly from the Realtek site and install twice...), and make sure the sound setting is at Surround. 5.1. If you use winamp to play mp3s, try to get winamp to use ffdshow audio (must be downloaded) to play files. In_mp3.dll does a poor job; I simply don't like the small sound of the mp3s. With In_dshow.dll handling the sound, music comes to life. The sound system of the Acer is truly marvelous -- especially for games and video. Again, I didn't realize how good the sound for the Acer was until I finetuned some settings. If you experience any crackling, try going into the Realtek settings. For whatever reason, when I changed the default format from dolby surround to 24bit , 44100 in the DIGITAL OUTPUT tab, the crackling dissapp

Cons: Again, sound is superb on the Acer... some sound effects on some videos can sound like they're coming from the other room... It's a trip. Gorgeous sound, but, again, you have to tap into it for mp3s since Winamp doesn't use Fdshow by default... FFdshow must be downloaded seperately (download the 32 bit version); the audio codec of Ffdshow has a grea mixer configuration.. make sure it's checked and set to to surround 5.1. As for the video, the viewing angle is narrow, but this flaw can be minimized by going into Nvidia control panel and adjusting the settings ---- I'd recommend eliminiating all gamma. I set my brightness to%35, constrast to 55, gamma to .5, and digital vibrance to 57. This setting is great for desktop and windows, but you'll need to adjust settings for video playback, to compensate. I use FFdshow to handle all of my video files, and so I pump up the brightness and such for videos. I still prefer using a mouse, but the touchpad really is an acceptable pointer. It'

Overall Review: gotplenty of settings options too; users are advised to set according to personal preference. The touchpad is plenty useful in its own way. I didn't have the wiring issue with the wifi, and can only say the wifi is great on the laptop. It also turns off easy with the touch of the wifi icon/light on the keyboard, htis is good for added power savings. Games play great at highsttings with the Acer -- all games except for GTA iv, which runs rather sluggish -- but that's really just due to the fact that GTA IV is horribly optimized for PC. Overall, the presentation- keyboard, led lights, color, appearance- of the Acer is great. It is an aesthetically appealing addition to my apartment. And once you finetune the computer, you'll be quite satisified, especially considering its price of 650. And of course I did receive the GT240m. Wipe off smudges with tissue and some rubbing alcohol. And NEVER handle/transport the laptop by grabbing it with one hand on its side, esp. the nump

Acer Laptop Aspire Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 4GB Memory 320GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit AS5739G-6959
Acer Laptop Aspire Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 4GB Memory 320GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M 15.6" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit AS5739G-6959

Pros: I got the 240 m instead of the 130 m. Whew! I was getting worried. FYI, I live on the East Coast side of the US and my laptop was shipped from the Edison New Jersey warehouse. -- Just a theory, but I think where you're getting the laptop from determines what kind of GPU you get. Once the comptuer is optimized, the settings and everything else tweaked and made just right, I may safely say that I am very glad I purchased this computer. Games look great, the sound is quaint and acceptable. It is a slick looking laptop and Windows 7 looks good. The aspect ratio of 16:9 turns out to be perfect for a computer. I like it much better than the square that I was used to.

Cons: Has taken me hours to optimize. I highly recommend installing updates for Windows 7, disabling as many unneccesary/useless programs through msconfig. At present there are no better sound drivers for the Realtek -- not ones that accomodate this computer's 5.1 surround anyway. So don't even waste your time (as I have). The screen is beautiful,a charming, adequate size, but leaves a few things to be desired. At certain angles, certain video files I have play in poor quality; when one changes the angle of the screen, they appear normal -- objects don't have a ghost-like appearance. To describe this problem some more, some scenes or levels on video games are best played at obtuse angles. One gets richer colors. Not sure if this is normal with laptops but I find it odd. But for the most part visuals are peach. Cover is a finger magnet indeed. My cover already looks like it has a disease

Overall Review: Some other pros and cons: There is the presence of some crackling for some of the mp3s that I have. Doesn't seem to be a hardware problem and seems to be related to something else. The touchpad is highly customizable but I'll always prefer the wireless mouse that I've been using. The touchpad doesn't seem to be responsive enough; one has to repeat actions in order to get a cursor where one wants it. The webcam is subpar and doesn't give a clear, sharp image. Finally, the keyboard is handsome but not ergonomic. I'll get used to it, but I prefer curved and angled keyboards. Oh, the DVD burner works and burning a recovery DVD was no problem at all. At 649 shipped plus free 240 m GPU, this was a satisfying deal. I purchased this computer right before the turn of the weekend and it got to my place in 2 days of shipping time. On the day before I received my unit, Newegg started selling this machine for a 100 bucks more with standard shipping fees applied. No buyer's remorse here.
