Works as advertised
Pros: Does the job perfectly. My P-6860 fx runs super hot when powering through COD4 or COH, so this was a worthwhile investment. The aluminum chassis and dual fans do their job very nicely.
Cons: A tad expensive, but I suppose you pay for high quality like this.
Overall Review: It was thinner than I thought. When I bring my laptop to my friend's dorm, I can easily fit it in my Slappa notebook backpack along with the actual notebook pc because it is essentially the same size as a 17" notebook, only slightly fatter on one end and slightly thinner on the other. Comfortable to have on a lap.
gasp! my first rating of less than 5
Pros: gameplay is excellent, keeps the call of duty gameplay style going strong. all in all, an excellent continuation of the series. the gameplay in itself is basically bug-free, with smooth gameplay and zero crashes. the japanese missions are a lot of fun, and the ambient light makes them look amazing.
Cons: as soon as a mission ends, the problems begin. for me, on vista x64, the cutscenes are blank. the voice is there, but the cutscenes are nowhere to be seen. the mission following the cutscene starts normally. this may seem like a minor issue, but it kind of p1sses me off when a game is fine but the packaging is buggy. also, the main screen sometimes suffers from the same black-screen problem. is it too much to ask for a game to function as flawlessly as COD4 did? no. it is not. i give this three eggs without hesitation.
Overall Review: multiplayer is still fun, basically bug free. mind you, not all people will have this error, and to avoid it you might just want to go and run this thing on xp. still a good game, but the magnitude of the bug is surprisingly irritating.
Outstanding, simply outstanding
Pros: Outstanding sound, as you would expect with the stats on the product page. Comfortable, cord length is good, mic sound is excellent. Quality of build is noticeable.
Cons: See other thoughts.
Overall Review: My right ear sticks out pretty far, and when I wear these for a couple of hours, my right ear starts to hurt. However, I attribute this to the normal shape of my ears than the headphones. If you have normal shaped ears, these will be the most comfortable headphones you have ever owned.
better than crack
Pros: Addicting. Sucked me in like a supermassive black hole. The quasi-sandbox nature and size of the game really are what dragged me in. After finishing the game with about 60 hours invested, i had only explored half the map. Interface was intuitive, turn-based combat done flawlessly, campaign storyline engaging. Truly a FPS masterpiece.
Cons: No multiplayer, but seeing that is anything but a legitimate complaint, I confess that I have none.
Overall Review: Be ready to invest some time! i'm in college, and this was a couple weekends down the drain. I could have spent those weekends... um... studying...
surprisingly good
Pros: personally, i really enjoyed the gameplay. graphics were really good (nowhere near crysis), weapon system was... realistic (not a fan of destructible weapons, but whatev). also, the multiplayer is good. really good. if you are playing on an open map, OF COURSE PEOPLE WILL SNIPE! thats what really open maps are for. however, because there is such a healthy variety of maps to play on, all ranges of maps are explored in multiplayer- which brings me to my final compliment. the following is the most important part of the review the map editor in this is stunning. absolutely stunning. i was absolutely blown away by the map editor in this. i have spent hours upon hours exploring the capabilities of the map editor and it is nowhere near boring me. seriously, this is by far the biggest positive for the game. the setup of the editor is intuitive and easy to use, and the virtually endless possibilities for the editor make it nothing short of breathtaking.
Cons: gameplay is everything you expect it to be. sure, ai is not perfect, and it suffers from basically every flaw that is in every other game like it, but is it really necessary to bash it down to one star for MINOR flaws? no. even with these flaws, they are more than offset by the rest of the game.
Overall Review: i got this game for $35 (thank you unnamed store for closing the store near me and reducing all pc game prices by 40%). even if I had to pay the 44 here, it would be worth it. the new call of duty is terrible, fallout 3 is terrible, so go with this one.
There's always a string attached
Pros: This mouse is spankin. The software is easy to use, the mouse has a great feel to it, and the customization options really make it feel like your own mouse. Extremely high quality gaming mouse, worth every penny. Gaming performance DID improve with this purchase. I need to start this story here so it will all fit. This story transcends the pro, con, and thought column, so bear with me. This is perhaps the most bizarre incident I have ever encountered, and is an extreme negative to logitech, but since they assured me that nobody else has ever has this problem, I dont see the point in docking it any eggs when this is a superb mouse. When I tried to install the included software, the customization program from logitech would not install. The macro editor and update manager installed, but i got an error when i tried to install it. I tried to troubleshoot myself, and after two hours of rebooting and turing off security center, i swallowed my pride and called logitech su
Cons: They were very nice on the phone, and the woman i spoke to tried very hard to solve my problem, but from listening to the things she was suggesting, i knew immediately that my problem was an oddball configuration prob and that she would never fix it. About twenty reboots later (which any vista user knows is no small amount of time), she gave up and said she would refer my problem to 'a specialist.' It should be noted that on my P-6860 fx i am triple booting vista x64, xp pro, and ubuntu, and since i know that the program does not have to run in the same operating system so long as it changes the internal configuration of the mouse, i installed it without a hitch in xp. I sent an email to logitech telling them this in the hopes that it would help them help me, and about a day later i get an email from them saying that i should evaluate their tech support now that the problem had been resolved.
Overall Review: the problem had NOT been resolved. It was a considerable pain in the behind to reboot to alter mouse settings, and i still wanted the software to run in vista. knowing full well that they blew me off because they could not fix the problem, i sent them probably the most hair-raising review they have ever received. The software does not work to this day, and in truth it isn't that bad to reboot every two weeks or so to change the profile. still, even though they assured me i was the only person to ever have this problem happen, it does make me wonder it that is true because they were rather quick to brush me aside. All issues aside, i bought a logitech gaming keyboard the next week and that driver software works perfectly. was the mouse software problem a fluke? absolutely. should it keep you from investing in this mouse? absolutely not.
