Great price for the hardware
Pros: Got it on shellshocker sale for $299. Great price for a nice Xeon and 8gb ecc ram with a server grade mobo and PSU. Haven't used or tested the HDD that came with it, but the graphics card it came with works fine, as does everything else.
Cons: The lower sata power cable only has 3 outputs for the lower 3 bays. That means that if you want to put a 2xSSD rack in one of the bays, you'll need a sata power splitter. I found one on [censored](that other ecommerce site) for about $6 though, so it's not a huge deal. Just something to be aware of.
Great deal!
Pros: Great processor, ram, chassis, and price. I love it! Fast enough hybrid hdd to run virtualbox vm very smoothly.
Cons: I wish the keyboard was backlit, but that is all I can think of.
Best for under $300
Pros: Plenty of processor and RAM for most applications, haven't had any trouble with it, use it for programming mostly. Huge, gorgeous display, streams 1080p video with no problems. Battery lasts about 5 hours, really not bad for the size of the screen and non-conservative processor. Quiet fans, stays pretty cool. Feels like it is good quality, keyboard feels great with great response from the keys.
Cons: Honestly, Windows 8 isn't THAT awful. It takes some getting used to and is definitely optimized for use with a touch screen, but it isn't bad. I definitely would not knock off a whole star just for the OS it comes with though. If I really hated it, I could install Windows 7 on it, so not a big deal. One annoying thing is the placement of the trackpad. It is not centered, but more to the left, and because of that my left wrist hits it all the time when I am typing and moves the cursor. Very annoying! It isn't all that heavy for it's size, but it is definitely a brick compared to ultra/netbooks.
Overall Review: I love it. Easily the best 300 bucks I have spent (bought it on Cyber Monday). I would recommend it to anyone.
Can't beat 'em for less than 10 bucks
Pros: Bought them for my wife. She loves them.
Cons: Comes with a bag, not a hard case like the specs say.
