4 out of 5 eggs Little experience with drive 03/12/2016

This review is from: Seagate NAS HDD ST4000VN000 4TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive

Pros: Did what I wanted at an affordable price
Seagate has a free downloadable stunted version of Acronis True Drive to surmount most installation issues (better than the older and less capable Western Digital version).

Cons: I did have to dink around with this drive to get the partitions near what I wanted
drive is a lil noisier than I'm accustomed

Other Thoughts: While I'm an experienced computer builder, it's been a few years since my last build. I struggled with the 2tb partition limit until I found an Acronis solution. I didn't end up with the partitions exactly as I wanted, but close enough. I can't give this drive a full 5 eggs because I haven't owned it long enough. At least I didn't have an infant mortality on my hands. As an aside, the drive it replaced was a 2tb WD Green drive in my NAS that was 6 years old that was starting to get noisy.

OCZ StealthXstream II OCZ600SXS2 600W ATX12V v2.2/ EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: None any that I can think of

Cons: Too many molex connectors
Not enough SATA connectors
High Failure rate

Other Thoughts: I bought a total of 3 of this specific model over the last year. Of the 3, 2 have failed. One only lasted a day. The second failed after 9 months. OCZ is easy to contact and extract warranty performance. But if you want to minimize down time better have a spare PS laying around. It cost me $13.88 to send the latest one to OCZ to get the warranty. Factor that into the sale price! Of the 5 OCZ products I've purchased over the last 2 years, 3 have had to be sent to OCZ for repair.

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Active PFC Power Supply
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Stable Power
Usually a Good Power Supply

Cons: Went kaput after 2 weeks

Other Thoughts: I have 4 of these in service. The newest one went bad after 2 weeks of service. I don't even have an add-on video card in that system. I went through the required OCZ warranty procedure. Never the less, it still took 3 days shy of a month to get the replacement in my hands. Granted, I'm on the east coast and they're on the west coast. The email procedure is cumbersome and when they promise a response in 24 hours it usually took 2 to 3 days. Then, they sat on the old PS for over a week before they shipped a replacement. I buy alot of OCZ products. I'm having second thoughts.
