Dissatisfied with this ASUS motherboard

Pros: can support 16GB RAM and multiple drives, BIOS UI covers a lot
Cons: BIOS UI contains minimal help, easy to make incorrect selections, apparently very easy to damage through normal use
Overall Review: Purchased 5/13/13 and initially worked well without problems. But I quickly found that the onboard sound and graphics were not what I needed as a developer. In late July 2013 I decided to upgrade both by buying Creative Soundblaster and AMD Radeon expansion cards. I installed the supporting software for both and thought I was happy. The new cards functioned well, but I quickly found that I no longer had network access. What?? That's right .. and I was VERY careful when installing the cards, having done so here and there for 25 years (built PCs as my job for almost a year, built 4 of my own PCs and helped several friends and customers throughout the years). Regardless, I pulled the new cards and after THAT didn't work I reinstalled the new ones one at a time. After that didn't work I contacted ASUS only to find that their support hrs are such that It is difficult for me to contact them when they are available. Finally, on a day off, I contacted them. The online tech chat was knowledgeable or at least appeared so and suggested a download. After that install still no network. On a 2nd tech chat that new tech also seemed knowledgeable but was unable to solve my problem. Finally I just requested an RMA only to find that I must pay for shipping the MB back within a very compressed time frame at my own expense. So, since I only had use of the MB for under 90 days and have to pay for the replacement and for shipment (which I understand is REFURBISHED, not a replacement), I also have to pay to return the defective product. A BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE to say the least. I have no problem paying for a replacement when they are sending the replacement first .. that's normal, and they release the hold on my account once they receive the defective product. But having to pay for shipping BOTH WAYS is not what I am used to.
