Great workhorse

AMD FX-8150 - FX-Series Zambezi 8-Core 3.6 GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor - FD8150FRGUBOX
AMD FX-8150 - FX-Series Zambezi 8-Core 3.6 GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor - FD8150FRGUBOX

Pros: If you need to work for a living using this chip then it's a sweet heart. Even not over clocked it runs fast. I use it on a Sabertooth 990FX and it is just fine out of the box!

Cons: At 125 watts it needs a real cooler and so you may want to consider not using the one that comes with it. Not overclocked this chip runs VERY cool. You won't hit the record books with this chip but you can have a super machine to do rreal stuff with. If you want liquid nitrogen to set over clock records you are picking a second banana.

Overall Review: It's been the nicest combo machine I've ever owned. Throw in 16 GB of ram and run multiple virtual machines in comfort. This beast is made for working.

Most Critical Review

It's preetty good

ASUS Laptop AMD A4-1200 4GB Memory 320GB HDD 10.1" Touch Screen Windows 8 64-bit F102BA-SH41T
ASUS Laptop AMD A4-1200 4GB Memory 320GB HDD 10.1" Touch Screen Windows 8 64-bit F102BA-SH41T

Pros: Small, light, compact! Free sleeve! Runs Win 8.1 (see below)! I actually wanted it to use as a tether to my NIkon Camera. It's going to be GREAT! It also runs Office 365 (not included) pretty well too.

Cons: Out of the box it's running a one year old load of Win 8.0. Show no fear! Disable all the Defender and Firewall settings and start a VERY long Windows Update cycle! Use hardwired internet if you can. At the end of about 100 (really!) You can then go to the app store and now get the FREE Windows 8.1 upgrade then the small list of those updates. Plan on a long time and don't forget to disable the real time Defender settings or it will be FAR longer (enable when done). You can't do hardware upgrades on this box! Don't try!

Overall Review: When you get done with all this updating it's actually a pretty decent compact device and you'll be fully bonded and have a personal relationship. Don't wimp out on all the updates or it's not that great. After you are done it is pretty good but it's not an AMD FX 8 core processor! The 4 GB ram is about all you can really use. You are buying this because you want a decent price!

It works out of the box.

StarTech S251BPU31C3 2.5" USB-C Hard Drive Enclosure - USB 3.1 Type C - Tool-less - External Hard Drive Case - SSD USB C HDD Enclosure
StarTech S251BPU31C3 2.5" USB-C Hard Drive Enclosure - USB 3.1 Type C - Tool-less - External Hard Drive Case - SSD USB C HDD Enclosure

Pros: I have too many drives and had this USB C port on my ASUS motherboard. Needed to use nit so got this enclosure. The tool-less part is real. To install a drive and you'll need a stop watch to time it done. Takes longer to open the box not counting the one used to ship it..

Cons: The cord it comes with is short so You may want an extension cable too. I already had two things on top of the tower case so I got one.

Overall Review: I run Windows so MAC users probably need this more than others. If you have a USB-C port go for it as it is quite fast compared to USB 3. I'm using an SSD drive and very happy. I have another enclosure that I got before this one and it sucks.

Really nice and easy to use

StarTech S251BU31C3CB USB-C External Hard Drive Enclosure - USB 3.1 Type C - Integrated USB C Cable - SATA 6Gpbs - SSD/HDD Enclosure
StarTech S251BU31C3CB USB-C External Hard Drive Enclosure - USB 3.1 Type C - Integrated USB C Cable - SATA 6Gpbs - SSD/HDD Enclosure

Pros: USB C is just the way to go I'm getting 400 MB /sec writes on not the latest Samsung 500 GB SSD. It requires the tiny screw drive to add tee screws for the drive on the rear end and the ones that hold the enclosure cover solid. It's a pretty easy operation and I didn't need to read any directions. I just plugged it in and did a normal Windows 10 disk operation.

Cons: The cable is pretty short. I'm getting an extension cable. My USB C port is on the rear of the motherboard. I have a large tower case so right now it just hangs on the back. You really need on board USB C ports to use this product. You can get adapters or versions for the older USB 3.0 but it's not like this. It then will default to the older standard but not the newer features.

Overall Review: There is a limit to the number of internal SATA ports on any motherboard with 6 or even 5 quite common. Newer motherboards are adding external USB C ports and this is just a great way to expand your storage with something faster than a usb 2.0 or even a USB 3.0 interface. I found I was upgrading to larger SSD drives and suddenly had a 500 GB SSD that was perfectly fine but I had run out of internal SATA connections. There are options to get this for an older USB generation but USB C offers so much more.

Great performance!

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler, 4 CDC Heatpipes, 120mm PWM Fan, Aluminum Fins for AMD Ryzen/Intel LGA1200/1151
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler, 4 CDC Heatpipes, 120mm PWM Fan, Aluminum Fins for AMD Ryzen/Intel LGA1200/1151

Pros: This cooler performs very well. You may be able to run this without a fan on a low power load. With a fan on a non over clocked system It stays under 30C most of the time. I've never seen 50C. If the fan eventually starts to rattle it's easy to replace as the fan just attaches with clips so most any same size fan will work.

Cons: It's a tall package and of course it needs to fit inside your case. You need to remove the motherboard to attach the plate on the backside.

Overall Review: I have used this one a lot on several systems. The low price may be deceptive. This really cools very well. I use Arctic Silver paste and prepare with the special cleaner. It's important to do that. I don't have overclock experience with this product. I've used more expensive coolers that were not as good. Once you can hear the fan you'll know it's time to replace it. Mine aligns with an exhaust case fan too. It's pulling across the ram through the cooler then out of the case.

Ok for Backup, good price

Seagate BarraCuda NE-ST8000DM004 8TB 5400 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I migrated a 5TB drive to this 8TB drive. It's my backup target. I store many large files on it as backup. The old drive was hot after it took a long time to copy everything over. The new drive was still cool.

Cons: The first one shipped but would not initialize and the replacement seems to be fine. I would not want this as my only drive. This isn't a speed demon.

Overall Review: This is about the lowest price 8TB drive. It's not wicked fast but so far seems to run well.

Fast and rugged

This is a good hard drive if you want reliability with decent performance. SSD drives are faster but not as large.
