Great value, good sound!
Pros: This sub sits right in the sweet spot for extremely budget-tight but somewhat demanding listeners. I've used this sub so far to just replace an unpowered HTIB speaker. Turning the volume level to the half way point is good enough to provide powerful but balanced, clean bass in this simple setup. Having the volume control is essential to allow you to balance the bass to your preference. The unpowered speaker it replaced didn't have this option and basic HTIB setups don't really let you tweak the audio too much.
Cons: The spring-loaded wire connections seemed a little cheap, but I had no trouble with the connection. If you want any better, you're going to have to pay a lot more.
Overall Review: There are terminals for connecting more external speakers. You should know that these terminals will not provide any sound if you use the line-level RCA jacks. It will simply pass through any pre-amplified audio you connect to the high-level input terminals, and provide amplication only for the sub.
Air mouse control not quite polished
Pros: The keyboard is just big and comfortable enough to feel good in the hands. The grips feel as comfortable as an XBox controller. Controls are logically and conveniently placed.
Cons: The air mouse motion is just not quite what it should be. I've used a Gyration Air Mouse and the motion is more comfortable. I was hoping to get that feel with a bonus keyboard in this product. The problem is that to move sideways, it doesn't work well to use the flick of a wrist. I was hoping it would feel more like a Wiimote. It's not even in the same neighborhood as a Wiimote for ease of motion. However, the Wiimote needs the sensor bar to accomplish this. The Cideko does not.
Overall Review: Something weird happened when I tested this out; My PC wouldn't boot with the transceiver dongle plugged in. It just hung up at the POST screen. Unfortunately I haven't yet investigated further what happened. The machine boots fine when the dongle is unplugged. Then I can plug it in and it works fine.
Contigo Makes the Best Products.
Pros: High initial quality. Affordable price. Great design. Attractively styled from tough plastic. Does not leak at all. You can turn it upside down and shake it and it won't drip. The button action is pleasantly tight and reliable. The button doesn't bind and, when you release it, it snaps shut with a rubber seal.
Cons: Seems to fit a bit awkwardly in the cup holder in my truck because it's tall and the bottom is slightly rounded. Of course, if it were any wider, it wouldn't fit in the cup holder. If it were any shorter, it wouldn't hold as much water. Carabiner clip is made out of plastic. I'm not sure how strong it is. It does seem very strong for being plastic.
Overall Review: I bought this bottle because I bought a travel coffee mug from Contigo and had such great luck with it. Seriously, unless you want to go cheaper for some reason, get this one.
Outstanding value, great sound, quality build
Pros: Very wide and true frequency response. Quality piano black finish. Wire connectors are sturdy. You can screw in the wires directly (no spring-loaded garbage) or use banana plugs. To use the banana plugs, remove the colored polarity caps on the terminals.
Cons: You will need to buy a subwoofer to complete this setup, but in my case I considered this a good thing. I wanted to buy the sub separately so I chose this package. If you would prefer, Energy does offer a package with these speakers and a sub.
Overall Review: You could get better speakers, but not at this price. This brand name is a subsidiary of Klipsch. The name sounded corny to me but after reading so many glowing reviews I decided to give these a try. I'm glad I did.
Good initial value for the money
Pros: Warm colored light, hit dissipator doesn't get too hot
Cons: Tends to flicker in a dimmer, but can be dimmed. Behaves very much like a CFL dimmable, in that you can't seem to get it really dim. The dimmer I've used it in is one of the newer time-slice types. The 40-watt equivalent is a little dim by today's standards, but truly is equivalent to an incandescent 40-watt brightness wise.
Overall Review: CFLs are very inexpensive to operate. From a cost-saving standpoint, you should really only get this to replace a CFL if you are running the bulb 24-7, like I am in back of my garage. Cheaper than buying and installing a timer.
Terrible driver support.
Pros: Low price
Cons: Driver support is terrible. The driver was last updated in 2007. It has had install problems on some machines and caused blue screens on others.
Overall Review: Without good driver support, what value does a piece of hardware have?
