Great drive in MBP

Intel X25-E SSDSA2SH064G101 2.5" 64GB SATA II SLC Enterprise Solid State Disk
Intel X25-E SSDSA2SH064G101 2.5" 64GB SATA II SLC Enterprise Solid State Disk

Pros: Start up, shut down, sleep, and wake times are negligible. Applications: open and close in seconds, compression and extraction, encoding; everything rips with this drive. Battery life: not significantly longer but I imagine it must be somewhat longer due to the decreased power-draw Heat & Noise: drive generates much less heat and noise than a conventional spinning disk Data security: SLC means I probably will replace the drive before it fails. Dropping my laptop (I'm clumsy) doesn't result in a fear of data loss.

Cons: It's small! 64GB is simply not enough for everything. No worries, though. I replaced my SuperDrive with a 750GB data drive. Price, obviously.

Overall Review: xBench: Sequential: 186.04 Uncached Write 272.25 167.15 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 273.05 154.49 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 85.88 25.13 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 396.56 199.31 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random: 1032.45 Uncached Write 1266.93 134.12 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 626.68 200.62 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 1881.47 13.33 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 1044.12 193.74 MB/sec [256K blocks] I got this drive for a bargain price -- I would have never purchased it for a personal laptop otherwise. I bought my girlfriend a WD SSD for about $200 and it performs very nicely, too. This drive is better suited in RAID driving some seriously heavy database.
