This review is from: Acronis True Image 2016
Pros: Once you learn how to create a script, backups and images are very easy.
Backups and images are compressed so they are smaller and faster to create compared to the OS software.
Many features are available if you take the tine to learn them. However, there is little that is intuitive about the product.
Cons: I make daily images as a precaution against some type of failure. When I need to reimage a drive, I expect it to be a clone. I have found on many versions of ATI, there are obvious or subtle changes made to recovered system settings such as sounds or screen savers. I've had a few programs refuse to work and I would need to reinstall them so I wonder what, if anything, was done to the registry! Every version I purchased said it would read backups and images made with previous versions. In too many cases, that has not been my experience.
When you reimage a drive, the script you used must be validated before it can be used again. The manual (user guide) is not easy reading and it is 146 pages of technical jargon. I had to call support to learn this.
I am sticking with ATI 2015 as I won't reward a company with future purchases when they have such a spotty record.
Other Thoughts: If you are happy with your current version of ATI, stick with it.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Hauppauge USB-Live-2 Video Capture
Pros: Very easy set-up for capture. A bit more involved setting up the recorder software and the channel database (mostly time consuming) . When I changed cable providers, I discovered that I was no longer able to use my DVD Recorder which replaced my VCR (all composite and component outputs were unavailable for use and I had no interest in leasing a DVR or other expensive solution. What is most outstanding is that this product allows me access to the ports just like in the VCR days.
I love the options (video quality slider, 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, etc, etc.)
Cons: Whenever I tried to safely disconnect the device (Windows 7), I was told it was in use by a program. So I used the task manager to end it. I later realized that the Hauppauge TV Server needed to be manually stopped. Not a big issue but I will report the concern to Hauppauge.
Update: Hauppauge said it it not a problem to simply disconnect the USB plug when not longer in use.
Other Thoughts: Great product and nice price. Considering this is SD, it is well worth having.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It works. Great Price.
There were no difficulties having it read my 2.0 or 3.0 devices.
Cons: The on/off button caught me off guard. I was expecting that once the power was connected, it was ready to go. When I checked the "universal instructions", it showed a picture of the on/off button (duh!).READ FULL REVIEW
