BenQ GW2450 Glossy Black 24
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: This monitor is awesome but you aren't, not yet. If you want to be as awesome as this monitor (and me) follow my settings. Of course every monitor has revisions so these settings might not be the best for you but you mind as well try them since they are the PERFECT settings.

Press "MENU" on the monitor and move to the "PICTURE ADVANCED" settings.

Picture Mode: Standard
Senseye Demo Off (this setting should be grayed out)
DynamicContrast: 0 (this setting should be grayed out)
Display Mode: (this can be left alone)
Color Format: RGB (this setting should be grayed out)

THEN press "MENU" on the monitor and move to the "PICTURE" settings.

Brightness: 21
Contrast: 50
Sharpness: 1
Gamma: 3
Color: (click this setting and a new window will open. Follow below...)
Color Temperature: Normal (leave these settings as is.. trust me)

That's it! See my other notes below for more tips!

Cons: Bezel could be thinner and a better stand perhaps.

Other Thoughts: To reach the BenQ hidden factory menu HOLD the Menu button while turning on the monitor (press the power button once while holding the MENU button is what I mean). When the monitor shows an image on the screen press the MENU button (you were still holding the Menu button up until this point, let go of the Menu button and press it). A "BenQ Service Page" should appear on the screen. If it doesn't, try turning off the monitor and try again. You might want to try spamming the MENU button (press it constantly) after the monitor first turns on until the "BenQ Service Page" appears. Once this page I HIGHLY recommend going down to the setting that says "Logo" and turning it "Off". When your monitor turns on you won't see that annoying BenQ logo anymore. Awesome!

Other tips include: If you use Firefox (this drove me nuts!) go into the "Options" settings (within Firefox) then click the "Advanced" tab. Look for a setting called "Use Smooth Scrolling". Make sure to uncheck the check box. Do not use that setting. It makes scrolling on Firefox HORRIBLE unless you disable it like I'm telling you. Look at the difference between both settings and be glad I shared that with you.

Last bit of expert knowledge I can share with you is to do your eyes a favor and download the program "f.lux" just google it. It is probably one of the most important applications that every computer should have but not that many people know about it. It automatically changes your monitor's color settings to reduce eye strain. One of the best apps to have. Of course you can disable this application easily on your system tray. If you want to watch a movie for instance you will preserve the settings I shared above (by disabling it) but if you are just browsing the internet your eyes are more important than color/contrast accuracy. One of my personal favorite computer apps. No eye stress EVER!

I hope this helps someone. Cheers.
