Product does everything it can do
Pros: I rarely bother to review products, especially good ones, but I want to debunk the negative claims. I was originally hesistant to buy it cause of those reviews, but I think thats cause folks don't understand the product. The thing works great at USB 2.0 speeds for low-power devices, or devices that have their own external power source. It will not work at all, and likely crash/harm your computer if you attempt to plug in a power draining USB device - think about it - that PCMCIA port was never designed for that type of usage. My Zen crashes my computer (I tested on an old laptop) plugged into it alone - as expected. But plug in the Zen's wall power supply, and it works like a charm. My external hard drive (with an AC adapter) works great with it. Flash drives and keychain drives worked fine. If you have old laptops you want USB 2.0 data rates, buy this product. If you want USB 2.0 data rates and power, buy a new laptop.
Cons: Pretty useless documentation, included disc worthless. Luckily it was mostly plug and play with 2000 and XP - haven't tried yet (all my linux machines are desktops) with other OS but I'd bet you'd have issues.
Overall Review: Good product for what it's capable of. If not for the previous negative reviews, I'd have bought three at once, now I gotta pay shipping for two more.
Waste of money
Pros: The ports are blue and pretty.
Cons: Hooking more than two items up requires a separate power supply, which this ain't got. I know hooking up power heavy devices requires a powered hub (which I have for those uses), but four flash drives should work but don't on this thing.
Overall Review: Cheap enough it's not worth the bother to return.
Great product
Pros: Thing does exactly what it says: splits a HDMI signal and sends to four devices.
Cons: It does take a couple seconds extra for the receiving devices to "figure out" the signal. Also, if you want to run extreme (50-100 foot) cabling from the output to a faraway device, you need to put in repeaters (just like you would with any HDMI that distance).
Overall Review: I had one for a year and now I'm buying a second one to hook up more screens, because more is better!
Solid Monitor
Pros: Great monitor with great color. Nice picture at the price point.
Cons: Switch sometimes takes a while. I really want a monitor with a BIG input switch on front between DVI and HDMI for multiple computers, but I think the KVM companies have a deal with the monitor producers not to do so.
