Great keyboard.
Pros: Good keyboard. works very nicely.
Cons: The left side of the space bar isn't as receptive to pressure as the right. the Fn and the Home keys got in the way since i'm used to a control on the far left and a wider backspace. I popped them off and keep them in a pencil cup with other trinkets. they pop back on with no problem at all, so don't worry. sometimes when reading to hit the tilde key, I hit the '1' by mistake, but that may just be me.
Overall Review: I wish the Delete key was higher up, it takes some getting used to to use it down there, but some other keyboards have it at the bottom too, so whatever.
Decent disks, good product, smelly as $#!7
Pros: Discs are working.
Cons: When I got the spindle, three of the four pegs that keep the lid in place were broken off, one of them was lodged between two disks near the top. The disks SMELL AWFUL. Just opening it up, the smell wafted everywhere very quickly. I know it wasn't my packaging either, since I have purchased Verbatim in stores before and the disks still smell rank.
Overall Review: I mainly purchased these for the high rating and the rebate. Verbatim is being a female dog and a half about the rebate. If you are purchasing these specific disks for the rebate and don't want a lot of hassle, then go with something else. Verbatim demands a receipt, and since you purchase online and don't really GET a receipt, there is no guarantee you will ever get your rebate.
Computer great, Service horrible.
Pros: It is indeed fast, a great jump up from my last laptop, a single-core emachines 1.6ghz sempron. This laptop here won't play Crysis or hit the top of any benchmarks but if you want to dual-boot with linux or windows, it formats things quickly and doesn't afraid of anything. I love the brightness of the screen and the webcam, they seem to be of exceptional quality for this cheap a computer.
Cons: The laptop does feel undeniably cheap though. The first one I got had a dead pixel, which Acer refused to service, luckily Newegg replaced at no charge. Love Newegg! I then sent my laptop to Acer to do the Windows Refund and since it came back I have had nothing but bad luck. It seems the casing has shifted when they sent it back and everything that snaps together feels just off. If I run my thumb up the front of the keyboard, it is not flush at all. The LEDs are bright, so that may be a plus for you but I had to dim them so I can use it at night or keep it on overnight with the lid closed. The CD drive doesn't feel 100% aligned when I push it in too fast but this may be regular with laptops, this is only my second.
Overall Review: This is purely from my own experience, but if you get an Acer product, get the newegg support extra because acer is worthless. Not only would they not fix a dead pixel in the screen just because who knows, they borked a simple Windows Refund. I shipped my laptop to them, with the hard drive wiped and Linux already installed and working on it, not to mention a large piece of notebook paper on top of it explaining I already had linux, windows is GONE, just verify it. That is what the Acer Support Lv2 guy Charles said they would do. The tech wiped my hard drive, installed Windows back on to it from somewhere because I know I didn't have any windows there. No one can explain why this tech did what he did. So, now am I out the $8 in shipping for that, I had to wipe it again. Acer said they would pay for shipping back both ways to investigate a memory issue which caused only 2gb of my memory to show up, but that was an issues with their install. Long story short if you go Acer Also go newegg
very good, not perfect.
Pros: Currently I have an external powered hard drive for storage, a webcam, two MicroSDHC readers, two flash drives, a cooling platform for my laptop and a power cord for an mp3 player plugged in. More often than not, I have a keyboard, wired mouse and a video game controller plugged in, too. It supports them all great, though when having them ALL plugged in and then plugging in the hub itself, any OS i've tried has a bit of slowdown when detecting and installing all the drivers, though thats to be expected.
Cons: Some port do go out sometimes, but its usually only the mouse and keyboard. I keep them plugged into the laptop and they work fine now, and so does everything else on the hub either way.
Overall Review: The blue light is very very bright. it is also very blue, which is my favourite color, so really that is a plus or con depending on the user themself.
