5 out of 5 eggs Second card is a charm....and a fast charmer at that 09/01/2016

This review is from: ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX-GTX1080-A8G-GAMING 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: - Huge step up from a single 980 and faster than my 2x980 SLI at 2560x1600
- Not only faster than my SLI 980s but no more scrambling to enable SLI on new games....back to a single card is fun!
- Ran it hard on a couple games and benchmarks and it never even gets warm
- Plus as a custom machine builder anytime i can control the lights on a card with software thats a bonus.
- fast, quiet, handsome....and no more SLI (until those 8k screens come out)

Cons: - other than the fact that it took two tries to get a working card i have zero cons.

Other Thoughts: I was the guy that wrote the 1-star review a week ago based on the first Strix card i received. Unfortunately NewEgg does not allow you to edit a review once it has a manufacturer's response (Asus responded quickly) so rather than add all this good stuff to the existing story i deleted it and just went with review of the second card they sent.

I received help and phone conversations with Newegg and Asus. Thats why i buy most of all my gear from them. Swapping the flaky card for this perfect one was painless and nobody tried to offer brain-dead help like "is it turned on?". Yes, i know the 1070 is most of the speed for hundreds less but dont you deserve the best at least once? go for the 1080 if its not the rent money.

Pros: good length of cables. all voltages were well within tolerance. big fan so expected to be very quiet.

Cons: arrived with dead fan and despite emails to thermaltake support about the issue I NEVER even heard back. of course, Newegg was great and refunded promptly.

Other Thoughts: How can I recommend a product that arrived DOA and the support site never responded to questions? I can't. Its back to PC Power and Cooling for me.

HTC ONE 3G Version Silver 3G Quad-Core 1.7GHz 32GB Unlocked GSM Cell Phone

5 out of 5 eggs For people who appreciate the differences 09/27/2013

This review is from: HTC ONE 3G Version Silver 3G Quad-Core 1.7GHz 32GB Unlocked GSM Cell Phone

Pros: -The only smartphone I ever held with such craftsmanship in the exterior. The more you know about it the more you you like it. -As a full-time photographer I greatly appreciate the larger photo sensor sites (thus fewer of them) and the quality of the picturs in dynamic range and especially low-light make it a real camera. Anyone who claims the resulting pictures look bad just doesnt know much about digital photography. I no longer carry a seperate camera in the car for opportunistic shots - Its Android, they pretty much are all the same to me but I do like Sense and I LOVE having an carrier unlocked phone so no bloatware. No need to root and install CM just to get a clean screen. -screen is about the maximum size i would want in a phone; large enough for movies, small enough for pockets. -internal hardware is pretty much what all the high-end phones have this year but the 1920x screen is flat out beautiful -fav app currently? a smart remote for all my A/V gear that automagically mutes the Receiver or TV if the phone rings. Thats cool. Just saying, everything runs fine, fast and I have yet to hit a snag.

Cons: Only concern is the attractive frosted aluminum back will get marred pretty easily if not kept in a protective case. Something I never worried about with all the black plastic phones in the past. I also miss the built-in kickstand on my Thunderbolt but the One makes up for that by being thinner. Sorry I cant provide solid negatives to worry about but after 3 months I am still impressed with it every time i turn it on. Hope that does not make me a fanboy :(

Other Thoughts: I had planned on rooting and running cyanogenmod after i got 'android 4.3 OTA. now that I have 4.3 and played with it on a nice carrier unlocked phone I will not install CM and lose Sense. I really like it just as it is. For change of pace I have tablets with CM. Finally, I have tried Net10, tMobile and StraightTalk SIMs and all work fine and came online with little effort on my part.
