1 Year review
Pros: After owning the Drifter II for a year with almost daily use (only about the last half of which actually carrying a laptop) and wearing it on a long motorcycle trip, the bag has held up pretty well. I carry it mostly over one should, and that shoulder strap shows the most wear and is starting to fray at the seam, but I should get at least another year of the same amount of use. I've yet to have any issues with any zippers. Holds an HP 17.3" laptop easily - could probably hold a slightly larger laptop. I'm a big guy and have no issues using both shoulder straps while wearing a heavy coat in the winter. If you like zippers and/or you like compartments within compartments - this is the bag for you. There's a couple of handy compartments that will work well for CCDW, too.
Cons: I would have given a fifth star if the 1 shoulder strap hadn't started fraying.
Overall Review: Wish list of improvements: -An option to buckle the shoulder straps to each other across your chest would help, especially when riding a bike; I've yet to find a use for the D-rings on the shoulder straps. -The bottom and back could have been better designed to help the bag stand up on its own. -Could be a bit more padding for the pocket meant for a laptop.
First one returned for replacement
Pros: Able to heat a large portion of my house Easy to use Remote control Appears to be solidly built Optional shut-off timer Highly visible thermostat temp
Cons: Unnecessarily loud confirmation "beep" for EVERY change (temp, mode, power on/off) when using either the panel on the heater or the remote. Should have an option to silence, but doesn't. Even each degree change requires a beep; I could see this being a problem for a house with light sleepers or in a situation where the settings would be changed frequently. Other than the beeps, the unit is relatively quiet.
Overall Review: Within the first 12 hours, the fan began making some noise like a bearing going out or the fan became slightly off-balance; this noise was not present when it was initially powered on. The noise wasn't very loud - if it were normal to its operation, I would not be returning this for a replacement. I shall see how the replacement holds up.
Totally didn't expect this...
Pros: ...nor was it the intention when I purchased it, but this thing trimmed my mustache like a champ! And not one bit of hair escaped the vacuum trap. I have a full beard and it's fairly course - not one hesitation or snagged hair.
Cons: It's also great at sniping those particularly unwanted color of hair that seem to grow faster than all the rest and keeps infecting it's neighbors...But that's my con, not the trimmer's
Overall Review: Caught a sale and a promo for 3x5 bux
GREAT sound
Pros: I consider myself an audiophile. I'm very picky when it comes to sound (music, movies, tv, and car audio), and these ear buds are awesome! There's definite emphasis on bass, but the highs are crystal clear too! Got these for $20, and worth every penny.
Cons: The cord could be longer, but it's the perfect length if the device is in your pocket.
Overall Review: If you do not like how they sound, try a different device! First tried these in the headphone jack of some PC speakers - HORRIBLE sound. Directly plugged into my work PC, cell phone, and pretty much everything else thus far they sound fantastic.
Dropped connections
Pros: Small. Only $7.99.
Cons: Constantly dropped connections to a router in the same room (approx. 8ft away). Purchased for the intention to cheaply upgrade an older laptop to 802.11-N, but it couldn't keep a connection for more 10 minutes. Never had any dropped connections with any other Wireless-N device I own before. Established speed was also limited to 72mbps, not 150 (router is properly configured for 300mbps); but actual speeds never exceeded 21Mbps. Disconnected and tested the max. speeds using the internal wireless-G network card and achieved a constant 28mbps with NO connection drops; tested again using a Wireless-N (to ethernet) adapter and achieved a constant 38mbps - the same speed achieved connected via ethernet to the same switch the file was being transferred through (100mbps switch).
Overall Review: Scratched the installation disc while opening the package - not even going to bother starting an RMA with NewEgg.
