A thing of beauty

XION Supernova XON-600F14R-201 600W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply
XION Supernova XON-600F14R-201 600W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Modular Power Supply

Pros: Very quiet, looks awesome, nice braided mesh wire jacketing, lots and lots of power connections, the modular wires keep the case neat and tidy. Only use the ones you need.

Cons: Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, The Unibomber.... I can only think of 3 CONS :)

Overall Review: Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Most Critical Review

Wrong CPU Socket

GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Gigabyte is pretty good about support when the product fails.

Cons: Was told by gigabyte the 2 DOA boards I got had the wrong CPU socket on them. They are supposed to be black (AM3+) mine were white (NOT AM3+ compatible). There is a manufacturing/assembly problem. Hopefully they get the situation resolved and get a good product on the shelves soon.

Overall Review: I usually love Gigabyte. Usually the top-of-the-line product.

Decent sound for the $$$

CREATIVE T3150W WIRELESS BLUETOOTH 2.1 SPEAKER (BLACK)
CREATIVE T3150W WIRELESS BLUETOOTH 2.1 SPEAKER (BLACK)

Pros: Looks great, remote power and volume control is nice. Can't complain for the low cost. Sound is very clear and gets pretty loud without distortion. Bass isn't overpowering but still adequate. Nice long cords.

Cons: Mesh over the speaker cones is pretty fragile.

Doesn't work with all IDE drives

StarTech.com USB to SATA IDE Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5in or 3.5in Hard Drive / HDD Dock (UNIDOCK2U)
StarTech.com USB to SATA IDE Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5in or 3.5in Hard Drive / HDD Dock (UNIDOCK2U)

Pros: Sleek, looks good, reads SATA and most IDE Drives

Cons: I bought this for one specific purpose, to access an IDE hard drive. My external HD case became non-functional once I lost the power adapter. I pulled the WD 160GB hard drive out of it and planned to just use this docking station to access the drive while using my laptop. THE DOCKING STATION WOULD NOT ACCESS THE DRIVE. I tried numerous SATA drives and even other IDE drives and it worked fine. It just would not work with the WD 160GB drive I needed to access. I ended up having to crack open my desktop and install the drive inside it. The drive works fine and I could access it once it was installed in the desktop, just wouldn't work with this docking station.

Overall Review: Newegg is great about returns so I can't be mad at them. they took care of the refund no problem.

Stay away from Gigabyte

GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P (rev. 2.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P (rev. 2.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: NONE

Cons: This is the 3rd DOA motherboard I have gotten in the last 2 weeks. All have been Gigabyte boards. The first two had the wrong socket on them (white not black) so they weren't AM3+ compatible. Those two boards went back. Bought a slightly different model the 3rd time. It too is DOA. I install it and all my components and it does absolutely nothing. Does not turn on. If I reinstall my "bad" MOBO (ASRock 970 Extreme3) it powers on like it should. There is a problem with the Gigabyte boards. Currently waiting for Gigabyte's response to my situation.

Overall Review: At least Newegg is really good about returns. Seems like I've been doing that a lot lately. In fact the last 4 items I've bought were DOA or defective in some way. (3 motherboards and a HDD Docking Station). I also just bought some speakers. Haven't tested them yet since I can't power up my PC due to all the DOA parts. My luck, they'll probably be DOA too. Starting to wonder...

No HDMI Adapter

EVGA 01G-P3-1556-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) FPB 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
EVGA 01G-P3-1556-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) FPB 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Pros: EVGA is a good company with quality products. Surprised I have a problem. See below.

Cons: Why MINI HDMI? 99% of HDMI is normal everyday HDMI. This has a Mini-HDMI out! Now I have to buy an adapter! And why include a power adapter that no one had needed since 1998 and a DVI/VGB adapter for those retro nerds still looking at an old CRT monitor? Wish I noticed this as I would not have bought it.
