Would be nice to have these specs in a micro-atx format
Pros: I do not own this board and I have no intention of buying it. However, I would buy several boards with workstation specs (especially ECC memory) if it is offed in micro-atx format.
Cons: Too big - please offer this in micro-atx format with only 4 expansion slots. The days of giant workstations are gone. If a board has decent built-in video and sound, there is not much need for so many expansion slots.
Overall Review: It would be really nice have a true workstation board, i.e., ECC memory, build in sound and video, in micro-atx format. The days of giant workstations are over - take a look at the Mac-Pro! Please do not try to sell boards that cannot handle ECC memory as workstation caliber boards. They are not - you only hurt your brand doing this.
This is not a worstation class motherboard
Pros: This is denitely a top-end board with good specs. However, it is not suited for workstations.
Cons: It is not ECC memory capable.
Overall Review: This is denitely a well built board with good specs. However, in our view, it is not suited for workstations because it cannot handle ECC memory. We were looking for a micro-atx sized board that can handle ECC memory and has high quality video and sound build in. There seems to be none on the market. We ended up buying P9D-WS server boards and added high end silent video and sound cards. Dear manufacturer. If you read this, please make a note that there is a considerable market for "small" motherboards with ECC memory and high end sound/video. (Please take a look at the new Mac-Pro - ECC memory, top notch video and sound) This market segment is currently completely ignored by your firm and everyone else in the industry, excetp Apple! Please make ECC memory available on micro-atx boards with built-in high quality video and sound.
