AMD Phenom II X4 945 - Phenom II X4 Deneb Quad-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 95W Desktop Processor - HDX945WFGMBOX
AMD Phenom II X4 945 - Phenom II X4 Deneb Quad-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 95W Desktop Processor - HDX945WFGMBOX

Pros: It's a quad core processor. Been using it for more than a year with the slightest overclock (no voltage bump). no issues.

Cons: None. all processors should have unlocked multipliers

Overall Review: anyone else notice that late last year and early this year newegg didn't have the 95W version in stock. I got it before it went out of stock.

somewhat disappointed

ASUS CuCore Series Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card EAH5770 CuCore/2DI/1GD5
ASUS CuCore Series Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card EAH5770 CuCore/2DI/1GD5

Pros: Works

Cons: Runs hotter than the reference card I have with it running in crossfire. removed the cooler to look at the bottom of it and noticed that the copper core touching the silicon isn't sanded very well. inserted some arctic silver 5, but didn't help the temps much. the cooler is terrible.

rebate on this decent for the price monitor

FujiPLUS 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 12 ms D-Sub, DVI-D FP-988D
FujiPLUS 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 12 ms D-Sub, DVI-D FP-988D

Pros: I've already given this thing a 5* review. I'm leaving this to let people know that the rebate will come through. I sent in my rebate materials in 8/05 and got the rebate on 1/21/06. Leaving the 4 star so that it averages to 4.5*

Cons: Long wait for the rebate.

Overall Review: Be Patient and make sure to be meticulous in filling out the rebate. Triple check everything before sending.

9800 pro now, a new card in a couple years

ZALMAN VF700-CU 2 Ball VGA Cooler
ZALMAN VF700-CU 2 Ball VGA Cooler

Pros: Remember that sierra mist commercial with the dog and its owner lying in bed in front of the AC on a hot day? It's that good. Ok, maybe a little exaggeration but I was able to overclock my 9800 pro 128 10 more mhz to 409 using ATITool without artifacting compared to stock cooling. Very quiet. ram sinks: remove the thermal pads and use thermal adhesive. I didn't do that but was still able to raise the mem freq. 3 mhz to 364. Might be possible to go a little higher with copper sinks and thermal adhesive available at this site. Will use copper sinks in the future. Happy with the setup for now. Good installation instructions. Can be installed on a good range of cards from both Nvidia and ATI

Cons: none!! (that I can think of right now)

Overall Review: Didn't have problems with the ram sinks falling off. Install sinks before going to sleep. Recommend cleaning the mem surface and pressing hard on the sinks. Wait overnight and press hard again in the morning before putting the card in the slot.

good monitor, bad adapter

FujiPLUS 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 12 ms D-Sub, DVI-D FP-988D
FujiPLUS 19" TFT LCD SXGA LCD Monitor 12 ms D-Sub, DVI-D FP-988D

Comments: My monitor was working fine the first two days. Then it started to turn on/off at will about every hour or so. Worked like this for 6 days, then on the 7th day it kept turning on/off constantly and finally gave out. I thought it could be my video card, monitor or the power supply. It wasn't my video card, because my old crt was still working fine off of it. I didn't see any reason why the monitor would give out. So I looked at the power requirements of the monitor and what was being supplied by the adapter. It turns out the monitor wants 12V 3.75 amps and the adapter is giving it 12V 4.2A, thats more than a 10% deviation!! So I contacted the manufacturer, who is good at responding quickly to e-mails. I connected a 12v 1 amp adapter used for my cable modem and voila the monitor started working again! No, I didn't run the monitor for more than a few seconds on the adapter. So I started looking around for adapters that I could get cheaply that would give the required power because I didn't want to return a monitor that had no dead pixels and a new adapter would probably cost as much as shipping the monitor back to the manufacturer. I found a samsung adapter with 12v and 3.75 Amp rating on (cough**) **ay for $12 shipped. This guy is a great se***r by the way. So now my Fuji plus is working fine on the new power supply without any hitches. I suggest that everyone who buys this monitor checks their adapter and replaces it with one that has the correct rating because sooner or later you might also have a problem. I've notified the manufacturer of the issue and hopefully they will take my recommendation seriously. Newegg is of course great as always. the guy on **ay has 1200 of them if you want.
