Pros: I used this mobo with an i7 6700k for a friend's build along with 2x8gb gskill RAM also sold here (the one that says optimized for 6th gen Intel - DDR$ 2666). My personal machine is about 5 years old (i7-950) so I have not seen the Intel chips for a while.
Anyway, the bios is wonderful. It has an actual GUI! All I had to do was change the RAM from 2133 (default) to 2666 and it booted into W8.1 with no problem. I always seem to gravitate towards Asus motherboards, whether I am building Intel or AMD.
My only complaint (not sure who to blame) is that when I put this motherboard into an HAF-X (giant, full tower), the cutout on case did not have enough room for me to put the CPU cooler (212 Evo) bracket.
So, I had to unhook everything and take the motherboard out, install bracket, and put it all back...just a minor inconvenience though.
My friend uses one video card, and does not overclock, so I did not see the point in buying a more expensive mobo for his build. The i7 might even be overkill for his setup, but at least he should be able to enjoy the system for at least 2-3 years.
Shipping was lightning fast, as always.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of, but I have not used an Intel board since gen 1 (my machine has the P6X58D Premium) and this z170 has a more user-friendly BIOS.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan
Pros: I just installed this cooler for a friend in his HAF-X full tower on an i7 6700k in a Asus Z170 Pro Gaming mobo.
The HAF-X has a cutout behind the motherboard that lets you put on brackets, but with the Z170 and this cooler, I had to take the motherboard out to get half of the bracket on..minor inconvenience, but I don't know if other cases are like that, or if it's the fault of the motherboard.
Anyway, you just use the 1150 instructions and it works just fine for 1151 on the new Skylake CPUs.
I put a little bit of Arctic 5 on the heatsink, as well as on the CPU itself, and I told my friend to do a burn-in for a few days.
I bought this 212 EVO because the reviews were fantastic and so is the price. Just take your time, even if you're experienced. I don't like to tinker with things. Once I install it, I hope to never touch it again for a few years. LOL
Cons: I am used to big towers (I never liked small ones), but I imagine this cooler will be way too tall for a smaller case.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Beautiful colors
Cons: over-sensitive menu is horrible
wish it had another HDMI and/or one DVI
Other Thoughts: I love this display so far for my computer and Xbox 360, but the menu is horrible. If anyone could give me a cheat sheet, it would be greatly appreciated! It is just too sensitive, and if I want to change to DP, HDMI, VGA, I have to get lucky in order to see it change.. I tend to almost ALWAYS get the changes between scenery, standard, gaming, etc..
Am I supposed to set it some way so that I can then ONLY switch between inputs? I cannot figure it out.
