Great buy
Pros: I'm only using 6 drives at the moment with just the 120 mm fans. 80 mm at the rear are unplugged and it runs cool and quiet. Couldn't pass up the price for a rackmount, 12 bay, hot swappable case. Contents of the box included everything needed including all 12 SATA connectors.
Cons: Top panel is held in by 4 tiny screws on the sides. Would have been nice to have a single tool less screw in the back for easy access Drive caddies are plastic. Molex power for the drive bays - I had to find some old molex splitters to accommodate the 6 plugs required. SATA power connectors would be nice The power and reset buttons tend to stick down.
Overall Review: I purchased this to replace a bit of a Frankensteined together unraid box using handed down parts. I was using an ICYDock 5 drive cage (3 5.25" > 5 3.5") which worked well for my needs but I was outgrowing. The case it was in wasn't able to handle the heat of the older AMD processor and the drives efficiently. I haven't had any heat issues with this BUT I'm also only running with half the drives populated.
Powered on without any issues
Pros: Fast drive with a decent amount of storage
Cons: Refurbished, 90 day warranty
Overall Review: I needed a drive to replace a very old, failing drive in my unraid array. I had purchased a couple of these same drives a few years ago and they work great so I figured I would give it a shot. Speeds are consistent with my others at roughly ~200 MB/s max read rate. My only complaint, and this is what I paid for with it being refurbished, is the powered on hours is a little higher than I was hoping for. SMART stats show powered on hours at 1y, 11m, 12d, 23h. That means this drive is already 6 months older than the other similar model drives in the array. All other SMART values showed nothing out of the ordinary. Overall I don't regret the purchase. Buying the newer version of the same drive would have run $25 more and yielded no real performance difference (I have a ST3000DM008 in the array which tests at 1 MB/s faster). Update: Roughly 6 months later the drive has begun to show pre-fail results from SMART reports (reallocated sectors =16, reported uncorrect =3). There's not much I can do with it being outside of the 90 day warranty. Going forward, I won't buy another refurbished drive. Power on stats currently show 2y, 13d, 3h so I got about 60 days of work out of it since my last post.
Great little vacuum
Pros: Does what it's designed to do - clean the floor Comes with a remote control that lets you direct where you want it to go and what action to perform (perimeter/deep clean) Self docks for recharging Supports scheduling Comes with 3 hepa filters, one installed and 2 replacements 2600 mah battery is comparable to a smartphone so cheap electricity costs while allowing 90+ minutes of use at a time
Cons: Does not work on thick carpet but it's not designed to. There's no roller on the bottom to handle carpet but it works ok on rugs. Thick carpet it can maneuver through but can get stuck when changing directions. The shag mat in my bathroom it will occasionally get hung up on. The edge sensor to keep it from falling down the stairs works great, but in my apartment the top of the stairs has a gentle roll for the first step. By the time it detects that the edge is there, it's sometimes unable to reverse back up the incline. A perimeter sensor to block off areas where it shouldn't go would be nice but can't really complain for the price
Overall Review: For the first few days, the only indication I had that the thing had run on its schedule was that the bin had filled partially up. I didn't have proof until it failed to back itself out from falling down the stairs one time. I just sit a box on the steps when I leave in the morning and I've not had the issue since. I use it daily to clean my 1200 sq ft apartment - The living/dining/hallway is all wood. The kitchen and bathrooms are tile. For the bedrooms since they are thick carpet, I close all the doors before I leave in the morning. I can say that even after going around with a broom, I've never had the floor this clean. Walking around barefoot I would always find something on the floor that I'd need to pick up. Now, since this runs daily, the floor is always particle free.
PSU cable length for top mounted PSU
Pros: Lightweight but sturdy. Big plus on the toolless design for the drive bays. I had no problems fitting my hardware in the case including my 8800GTS with room to spare.
Cons: The 24 pin PSU connector is about 4 inches too short to be used in this configuration. You can tell the PSU was designed to be mounted on the top of the case and not require much cable to connect to the mobo.
Overall Review: Instead of ordering a replacement PSU I've ordered a 24 pin extension cable to resolve (only reason I'm giving 3 instead of 4 stars).
