Fast, quiet, cool and reliable
Pros: Rock solid reliable; I have two of these and don't have a dead port or bad connection yet. Fast. Achieving 350-450Mbps throughput to NAS and server from multiple workstations. Cool and quiet. Because of a poor office design, this switch is sitting under the desk of our sales manager. And he never knows it's there...
Cons: I'll knock off one egg because, as mentioned by many other reviews, the design of the indicator lights is bad. It takes way too long to identify if a port is active... Its simple; either put the lights above each port, or change the layout of the lights to logically resemble the layout of the ports.
Overall Review: I'm getting ready to order my third one. Not as a replacement but for expansion...
Ssslllooooww
Pros: The name, Cisco. Unfortunately means nothing in this case.
Cons: Slow. Web interface is slow. DNS resolution is slow. LAN speed is slow. WAN speed is slow. I used it for a half-a-year, giving it a chance and trying things like updating firmware, scheduled reboot, connecting my network switches differently, changing settings, etc. Finally, I replaced this unit with a good 'ol WRT54GL running DD-WRT firmware, and immediately noticed a dramatic increase.
Overall Review: I manage a network of about 30 workstations, 3 servers, printers, NAS, etc. This router made everything slow; hard to believe one piece of hardware could royally screw up the whole thing.
