A Little Quirky, But High Quality
Pros: -SATA 6, and USB III -Solid capacitors, high quality parts -OC is made possible for novice users -Hybrid CrossFireX with compatible Radeon HD 5450 -ATX power in a MicroATX board (CrossfireX, 890 chipset) -HDMI Out Onboard (Audio AND Video!) -i-Charger is a nice touch (It Does Work)
Cons: -HD flipped out after OS install, making loud clicking noises (linked to SATA controller, but was fixed with driver install from site) -HDMI would sometimes give my 32" HDTV screen black borders using 1280x720 resolution (fixed by playing with the BIOS a bit, just set display options to actual values instead of 'Auto")
Overall Review: This board posted right out of the box, no questions asked. Had some small issues here and there, but were easily fixable. You must install USB III drivers to get them to work, it's not automatic. Using the provided DVD for drivers is not a good idea, I would reccomend DL'ing drivers from site. THIS BOARD IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WIN ME AND LOWER!! (then again who would install Win ME or Win 98SE in the 1st place with this board?) Bought this and a Phenom II x4 965 together for about $260! I wanted to wait before writing a review, because I thought this board might develop problems, but it hasn't, and it look like this one will last for years.
Has been problematic since the start, but works.
Pros: -It works even when certain components fail. -Low profile makes it easy to fit in small form-factor workstations with proper PCI_E bus voltage. -Powered directly from motherboard, and gives great performance considering such.
Cons: -The fans Gigabyte uses in this GPU are terrible. -Price (as of April 2022) is through the roof. -Performance vs. Price doesn't justify purchasing this card.
Overall Review: I paid $170 OTD for this GPU in October, 2020 before prices started skyrocketing due to supply shortages and scalping activity, but even at $170 I would rate this card 3 eggs, and would rate this one egg if I paid $300+. After 2 months both fans started becoming unbalanced and started making a loud whiney noise. At this point GPUs skyrocketed, so I emailed Gigabyte and asked for replacement fans and told them I would repair the card myself. It took them almost two months to respond, but they did send me both replacement fans, no questions asked. Three months later, the replacement fans started having the same issue again, and at this point I just uninstalled the fans and underclocked the GPU so it wouldn't overheat. I was doing engineering work and could not afford to lose time, or buy another card which doubled in price. Two months after I uninstalled the GPU fans (keep in mind my GPU never shut down due to overheating issues and I even lowered the max temp auto shut-down tolerance to ensure a longer life for the GPU) one of my HDMI ports started failing and losing signal. I used multiple cables etc. etc. to diagnose the problem. I came to the conclusion it was an HDMI port issue in the GPU. I only use a dual monitor setup, so I can still use this card, but it has been problematic since the start. I regret not being able to RMA the entire card for a replacement but due to what I mentioned before, I was stuck with it. With the current price for this card, I wouldn't recommend anybody purchasing this, but for $170 I'd say go for it. It's very likely I just got a sub-standard card and got unlucky.
Reliable is an understatement......
Pros: -80mm rear exhaust fan which keeps airflow in mind for top mounted psu cases -80+ Certified helps the electric bill...but most of all converts power efficiently to reduce heat. -A great replacement for retail PCs with dead power supplies (leaves plenty of room) -Very quiet for a 80mm ball bearing fan
Cons: -No mesh sheeths to cover the psu cables (at this point I'm nitpicking)
Overall Review: I have owned 2 of these in a 10 year span, and only had to buy a second psu because I sold my PC with the first antec. The 1st one is 7 years old now and I still haven't gotten a call to replace it. The second one is a year old and of course runs perfectly fine. If you build workstation PCs for businesses buy these in bulk the DOA rate is literally 1 out of 100 and that's even pushing it. Always clean out your exhaust fan anytime you get a hold of an air compressor it helps extend the life of the psu and most importantly the fan
The best brand money can buy
Pros: It's Verbatim, what more can I say. They have been making data storage media since the 80's and it shows. These are built for long life archival storage and they mean it. I have Verbatim double layer DataLifePlus discs from 7 years ago that still work perfectly, even with scratches (I can't say the same for some knock off brand I bought 2-3 years ago). These are also made in Singapore, which is the better of the 2 plants that produce DVD media storage for Verbatim. I haven't had a coaster (leaving out human error) in 2 years, and even that one was suspect to a bad DVD burner, in this day and age it is hard to find a sure thing, but Verbatim is and always will be reliable media storage.
Cons: None
Overall Review: These are perfect for burning XGD2/XGD3 (MKM-001-00 - Made In Singapore). Anyone with any sort of computer/console knowledge knows that KProbe should be taken with a grain in salt. Always verify your burns in ImgBurn.
Cash Money...But Worth It
Pros: -SATA 6 -low power consumption -sandforce controller (the best in the game right now) -accurate max read/write speeds as advertized -WEI 7.9 (works alot better than the SSD it replaced ten-fold) -the best SSD you can buy in its class
Cons: -the most expensive 60GB SSD when it's not on sale -Corsair sent me the wrong size screws to mount the SSD to the adapter!! (just like someone else mentioned as well). I personally could care less, but I would address this issue, as people will definitely care more than I will.
Overall Review: Amazing SSD. Ran quick max read/write speeds in HD Tune, once I seen max reads AND writes over 500MB/s, even at 50% capacity, so I stopped the test. Since I received the incorrect mounting screws, I mounted my SSD w/ 2 screws to an open 5.25" drive bay to hold it in place. Corsair please send me a case badge instead of replacement screws!
HUGE Multi-Tasking Potential
Pros: I haven't even began to go into depth with this processor, it is a monster! Upgraded from a Pentium D, and it's not even fair to compare the 2. Right now I have it overclocked to 3.7 GHz with stock cooling, and it is perfectly stable. I could bump it up another 100-133 MHz without running into overheating issues, but why?? 3.7 GHz is a rediculous speed. Stock heat sink is well built, I like the 3 copper pipes to disperse the heat.
Cons: stock fan/paste is not that good, but everyone knows that already....
Overall Review: I wrote this comment in the Windows XP Virtual Machine, and opened some older DOS apps I had just to emulate how my old system was setup, and its STILL faster than my original Win XP Pro setup. AND IM BASICALLY RUNNING 2 OS'S!! The Virtualization Technology in this chip is awesome.
