The Mouse

LOGITECH G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse #910-004074
LOGITECH G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse #910-004074

Pros: Great feel and incredibly responsive. Sleek look and very comfortable for medium sized hands. Excellent build quality.

Cons: Could go without the light, but that is just my taste. Nothing to break an egg for.

Most Critical Review

Solid Game

Call of Duty: Ghosts Xbox One
Call of Duty: Ghosts Xbox One

Pros: I found the campaign mode to be one of the more intresting and engaging stories among the recent Call of Duty's. I feel like they are releasing one every few months now, and this one was at least refreshing. I found the multiplayer to be rather unimaginitive. They semed to be satisfied with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. I ordered this and Battlefied at the same time (there will be more on this in the con field), but at least Ghosts was a finished game when it was released, and the multiplayer worked right away (if a little slow at matchmaking). I really enjoyed Squads, and I found extiction to be a nice change up.

Cons: I wish they had done more for the multiplayer. Playing 8 on 8 has grown rather mundane in my opinion. I would like to have seen them do more to take advantage of the new platforms. Campared to its main competition (Battlefield), this installment leaves much to be desired in multiplayer, but as I said before, at least it works when you want it to.

Overall Review: In conclusion it is a solid game, but it offers nothing overly new, and I am just as satisfied playing the Modern Warfare installments. In truth, I still prefer them.

ROG

ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit
ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Excellent performance and boot time. Great looking machinge with stong build. There was a learning curve with Windows 8.1, but once I figured it out, I actually liked it. Runs everygame I have played at maximum settings without issue save one.

Cons: The only thing in OS 8.1 one that continues to annoy me is the Charms bar. Just get rid of it already. Had some challenges getting some of my older games to run. Had to change a few Nvidia settings. Had some trouble with screen lag on Risen 3. Never figured out the problem. It was the only game with this problem, and didn't matter what the graphics were set to.

Overall Review: Some have noted a poor sound quality compared to other laptops built in speakers. I almost always either have a headset on, or plug into external speakers. So I can't say, but it sounds great in surround sound. Out of box default setting forced everygame to run at minimal settings...Why, ASUS would I spend over $2000 on computer to play games at minimal settings? Still a 5 egg profuct. I won't knock ASUS for things I don't like about Windows. I will chalk Risen up as an oddity for now. If I have any problems with The Witcher 3 or Borderlands, I will be back to update.

So Much Better Than III

Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Xbox One
Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag Xbox One

Pros: Beautiful and full world to explore. The controls are superbly campatable with the gameplay for naval warfare (no small feat for those who played III). By far the best installment in the series since II.

Cons: I don't really have any. I didn't feel the combat controls flowed as well with Kenway as in previous installments, but that is nitpicking.

Overall Review: My review may be biased. I have been a huge fan of the series since its creation. AC III did leave me with a rather sour taste in my mouth though. So much so in fact that I conscidered being finished with the series. Very much glad that I did not do that. Perhaps that was Ubisofts masterplan.

The Future

Xbox One 500GB Console with Kinect
Xbox One 500GB Console with Kinect

Pros: New graphical power is impressive. Not PC level, but a consol will ever be. New Kinect has some impressive capabilites. The layout is a much needed upgrade from the 360, and the ability to jump from app to app is a nice touch. The biggest pro, at least to me for now, is the potential future of this platform. I think it has a lot of untapped potential in both gaming and beyond. Some have complained about the size, but this was a non issue for me. It blends in well with my set up.

Cons: Not sold on the kinect yet. After some initial growing pains, I learned how to talk properly to my xbox, and now have no problem navigating the menu with my voice. Had to recalibrate a few times, but not sure it was worth an extra $100. Time may prove me wrong. The controller seems to be of a lower quality then the previous gerneration (materials wise), but I do like the feel better.

Overall Review: I am not a fanboy, and I will have both systems(maybe even a Wii U at some point), but I liked the Xbox launch titles and line up for the first year better. That is how I made my decision, since I could only get one at launch.

Typical Launch Game

Ryse: Son of Rome Xbox One
Ryse: Son of Rome Xbox One

Pros: This is a pretty game, and while the story is a little predictable, it is competent. Gladiator mode was rather enjoyable.

Cons: The multiplayer mode is really almost pointless. I am not a fan of the attempts at trying to get you to spend more money on upgrades for the game. Free games do this to try and make money. When I pay $60 for a game, I don't want to have to pay to unlock character upgrades. I certainly hope that this is not what the future holds. Also, if you are going to make a bunch of soldiers stand around me the whole time, they could at least watch my back. The Roman soldiers excelled at watching me get surrounded, blocking my view at times, and not even distracting the enemy.

Overall Review: It is a solid launch game, and falls into all of the launch game cliches, but I still enjoyed playing it.
