Most Critical Review

Kaspersky - diagnose thyself.

Kaspersky Multi-Device - 5 Devices
Kaspersky Multi-Device - 5 Devices

Pros: Purchased with a rebate, this was a $15 dollar mistake instead of a $70 dollar mistake. When you cannot get on the internet consistently, you stand less chance of finding items that are potentially infected. Uninstalling the software makes all the problems go away.

Cons: I have never in the history of my using computers found a piece of software as horrifically buggy as this one. 1. Invasive to an extreme - the amount of hooks it puts into the system are outrageous. 2. Unconfigurable - You cannot install this software in pieces, it is all or nothing. Worse, even if you turn off all functions, the hooks remain active. Want something in your back pocket only to scan the occasional file for viruses or do some proactive scanning on your off hours? Good luck. 3. Unstable - after installation, all web browsing comes to a complete and utter halt. You might be able to look at one or two websites, but expect to come to a complete halt afterwards. Chrome, IE, Firefox all stop responding, and cannot even force quit out. 4. System responsiveness becomes spotty - again even if you've turned off ALL functions of the software.

Overall Review: It is an extreme shame to discover how invasive and obstructive Kaspersky software has become. I was perfectly happy with older iterations, especially of their Anti-Virus software. This piece of software is the first commercially purchased software I have encountered that should be labeled Malware. I'd return it, except I've already activated the 1 year license.
