Lots of room w/128GB, USB3.0 compatible.

Silicon Power 128GB Blaze B05 USB 3.0 Flash Drive (SP128GBUF3B05V1K)
Silicon Power 128GB Blaze B05 USB 3.0 Flash Drive (SP128GBUF3B05V1K)

Pros: Using a USB2.0 connection: 16MB files show 14.75m/s write, 22.64m/s read average. 8MB files show 12.47m/s write, 22.25m/s read average. 4MB files show 14.38mb/s write, 23.75mb/s read average. 2MB files show 14.02mb/s write, 23.36mb/s read average. 1MB files show 13.99mb/s write, 23.36mb/s read average. Using a USB3.0 connection: 16MB files show 37.41mb/s write, 114.28mb/s read average. 8MB files show 28.08mb/s write, 104.61mb/s read average. 4MB files show 36.19mb/s write, 97.49mb/s read average. 2MB files show 34.63mb/s write, 101.86mb/s read average. 1MB files show 34.10mb/s write, 112.58mb/s read average. I like that it's retractable so there's no cap to lose.

Cons: The LED indicator light is very faint, and in fact at first I thought it wasn't working because I expected it the light to be on the back of the drive; as it turns out, it's in the middle and only visible through the slit between the main part of the drive and the end. It also only lights up when it's doing read/write operations, no indicator light showing simply that it's in and ready.

Overall Review: I picked this up on sale for no reason in particular, other than I know if I ever needed a USB larger than any I currently own (which is no more than 4gb), I'd want it NOW. Getting a 3.0 compatible 128GB thumb drive seemed like a nice hedge against future frustration and I'm glad I purchased this drive.

Decent camera, slow shipping

Foscam FI8918W Wireless/Network Camera w/ Pan & Tilt 8 Meter Night Vision 3.6mm Lens 67° Viewing Angle
Foscam FI8918W Wireless/Network Camera w/ Pan & Tilt 8 Meter Night Vision 3.6mm Lens 67° Viewing Angle

Pros: Remote pan/tilt capability IR night recording Wireless recording Easy setup Two way audio capability (I haven't used yet but I like the idea)

Cons: Chunky 'video' Image could be clearer IR emitters wash out color S-L-O-W shipping from 1saleaday (Newegg "marketplace seller")

Overall Review: I got this camera on sale for $69.99, and I think I got what I paid for. This is my first IP camera so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, although I did assume that 30FPS would mean real-time video, but the video this camera delivers is more like quick individual pictures strung together. That may be due to transmitting over my wireless network, but the point is this is a wireless camera so most users will experience this quality of video. I like the fact that it has IR capability, and while the picture isn't great when the IR has taken over, it isn't horrible either. Setting up the camera was pretty easy and straight-forward, and I think this would make a nice camera to mount overlooking a porch or deck and give you a basic view outside at visitors or lurkers, so long as it was protected from the elements (under an overhang). It would also make a great baby monitor. My biggest beef with this purchase was that it wasn't directly from Newegg, but rather from Marketplace seller 1SaleADay. Newegg has spoiled me over the years with their quick shipping - heck, the LAST thing I bought from them showed up literally the next day! But this purchase showed shipping would be "5-7 days" and actually took 9. Not a huge deal, but greatly contrasts with what I expect from shipping generally and I don't understand this new trend of sending something by UPS/FedEx and then having it transferred over to the USPS who of course then take forever to deliver. From what I can tell this camera took 4 days to get from Florida to my local post office in Maryland, and the local post office took another 4 days to deliver it - crazy.

Initial glitch resolved!

Crucial MX200 2.5" 1TB SATA 6Gbps (SATA III) Micron 16nm MLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT1000MX200SSD1
Crucial MX200 2.5" 1TB SATA 6Gbps (SATA III) Micron 16nm MLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT1000MX200SSD1

Pros: * Per specs, a fast and quiet drive that should be a great replacement for my mechanical 1TB drive.

Cons: * So far I've been unable to get it to work (edit - now working fine)

Overall Review: I had previously purchased two 500GB Samsung Pro SSD drives for two different laptops. These SSD's came with their own cloning/copying software as well as instructions on how to replace an existing drive. Both installed the first time flawlessly, and I wanted to stick with Samsung but there was just too much of a price difference between those and this Crucial drive when it comes to the 1TB versions so I went with this. It comes with a serial code and a website so that you can download a very limited/neutered version of Acronis True Image (which then pesters you to purchase the full version BTW). I hooked my SSD drive up to the same USB adapter I used for cloning the other drives in the past, selected the Acronis clone option, and off it went. It said it would take about 3 hours, but in reality took around 5. At one point I checked on my desktop to see what the progress was but my screen was blank, my mouse and keyboard were unresponsive, yet the desktop was full powered up. I couldn't get it to respond to anything, so I powered it down and removed the SSD from the USB adapter and powered it back up. Blue Screen of DEATH! Well not quite, Windows (7, pro, 64-bit if anyone cares) complained it couldn't not start due to errors with the MBR. It then complained it could not recover from the error. UGH! Luckily after shutting it down, hooking the Crucial SSD back up, and switching it on again it fired up fine but I'm not sure what state my computer is really in, or what it was in that weird half-dead state hours into the cloning process. By default Acronis wants to shut down your computer after it finishes cloning, but I had unselected that option so it shouldn't have done anything once it was finished.

I will absolutely revisit this review once I get 'er and and functioning correctly, but so far I'm kicking myself that I didn't just spend the extra money and get the tried-and-true brand of SSD that I had purchased previously. I'm not at all impressed with Acronis, and I hate the lack of any real instructions that SHOULD come with this drive but don't. * EDIT - the initial problem I had with cloning my existing hard drive was due to my computer going into sleep mode automatically after 5 hours. Once I fixed that in the power settings, I was able to clone successfully. This new SSD has raised my Windows Experience Index rating for the hard drive from a 5.7 to a 7.9, a pretty drastic improvement. I still wish it had come with some basic installation instructions and better software than this stripped-down version of Acronis, but I'm happy with my purchase and would give it a solid 4 eggs out of 5.

Purchased as general gaming/internet notebook for wife

ASUS - 17.3" - Intel Core i7-3630QM - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M - 12 GB DDR3 - 500GB HDD - Windows 8 - Gaming Laptop (G75VW-NH71 )
ASUS - 17.3" - Intel Core i7-3630QM - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M - 12 GB DDR3 - 500GB HDD - Windows 8 - Gaming Laptop (G75VW-NH71 )

Pros: Heavy duty construction - this thing has heft, which is a GOOD thing. I'm tired of notebooks/laptops that are so lightweight they break after a few months generic use. Fast - a big upgrade in terms of CPU and graphics ability from her last laptop and nothing she's tried to play has given her any problems at all (bear in mind she isn't playing top-of-the-line graphically challenging games though although I'm sure this thing can handle those). Ability - plenty of outputs and ports on this baby. You won't be left wanting for a USB port or HDMI connection to be sure!

Cons: WIndows 8 pre-installed. I really REALLY wish we'd have had an option when it comes to the operating system. Windows 8 is every bit as annoying and horrible as you've heard. My goodness this OS sucks on ice. Even after the 8.1 update it's a chore to use. Why oh why MS?!? I've been debating dropping another $100 and simply buying Windows 7 and installing that instead, but I've already dropped $999 on this beast! ASUS - this *used* to be a Pro, Asus used to make excellent products that lasted - and if they didn't, gave great customer support. Sadly, 2 of the last 3 Asus products I've purchased (this notebook and 2 wireless routers) have given me problems within the first month or two. Worse, getting support from Asus has been difficult and unwieldy. I'm sorry, but a product still under warranty should be shipped back at Asus' expense, not the customers! Why are we paying to send back faulty equipment you sold us? This particular Notebook has developed a weird habit of suddenly and randomly losing power while being used. This has got to be a build/power supply issue as the notebook was actually plugged in all three times this has happened (over the past two weeks). I have just initiated contact with Asus support about this issue, so I'll have to hold off judging how they handle this particular issue until it's resolved.

Don't buy for single player experience

Diablo III PC / Mac Game
Diablo III PC / Mac Game

Pros: Good graphics, good sound, low learning curve. You will not waste lots of time playing this game since you can only play when Blizzard gives you permission by keeping their servers up, which isn't very often so far.

Cons: You are now a slave to the whims of Blizzard and their servers, even if you have no interest whatsoever in multi-player or online game play. If you wish to play your game anywhere you won't have an internet connection (like when I go on vacation this summer), you won't be able to play this game. Period.

Overall Review: I played through the original Diablo and Diablo II and loved them both. I couldn't wait to get D3, so much so that I never bothered reading much about the specifics before pre-ordering it. Huge mistake. As I sit here typing this my plan was to spend the morning playing D3, but I can't because their servers are down. That's right, I want to play my SINGLE PLAYER GAME in the comfort of my own home but because of the always-on-internet requirement (even for single player) I cannot play my game because Blizzard is patching their servers. Had I known of this requirement, I never would have bought this game. With any luck I can save some other sucker from being separated from his $$$ with this review. This will be the last Blizzard game I buy if this is how their games will be going forward.

Decent E-SATA expansion card

Rosewill RC-219 - eSATA x 2 PCI Express NCQ Non-RAID Controller Card - Silicon Image, SATA II
Rosewill RC-219 - eSATA x 2 PCI Express NCQ Non-RAID Controller Card - Silicon Image, SATA II

Pros: - Fits nicely - Adds 2 E-SATA ports to your desktop

Cons: - If using to set up a new, single boot drive, it's a pain to get the driver working. - Having problem with iTunes sync constantly freezing (although I honestly can't say for certain it's because of this peripheral... but it worked fine before).

Overall Review: I purchased this card because my Socket 939 mobo inexplicably stopped detecting any SATA hard drive connected on any port. Rather than purchase a new IDE hard drive (which it still detects fine), I figured buying an E-SATA card like this would allow me to keep using my existing SATA drive for cheaper. Now that it's set up and running, it mostly works like a champ. The only issues I've had is that for extended write sessions (syncing an iPod via iTunes), the hard drive freezes and requires a hard boot of the desktop. Not a critical issue, but worth mentioning (and yes, I have the latest drivers for this card from Rosewill). Installing Windows XP from scratch using this card is quite a pain though; the windows setup routine refused to read the drivers from the included CD (following the instructions included with the card), so in the end I used nLite to create a "slipstream" disk including the drivers already and this allowed me to do a fresh install successfully.
