Pros: - Decent WiFi signal - Gigabit Ethernet - Outstanding customer support - Looks like a smoke detector?
Cons: - No vents on top - Runs a little warm, though I'm told this is not an issue (see below) - Minor gripes: No access to hosts file in WebUI, Streaming from USB 2.0 port is very laggy and not worth it, no DD-WRT support (not EnGenius's fault)
Overall Review: Had this router for a little over 3 months without issue. The other day UPnP functionality stopped. After much fussing around in the web interface, I touched the router and noticed it was running a little hot- no surprise as all the vents are on the bottom. I turned it upside down and called EnGenius support the next day. The phone was answered in under a minute. The first guy I talked to tried to make me go through the basic troubleshooting steps I had already gone through, but once I told him as much he did not insist and my case was escalated. I was put on hold for about five minutes, during which I ran a UPnP test which passed this time- I assume turning it upside down worked. I told the tech as much, he made a note in my case file and that was it. He also told me that overheating was not an issue with this router, but put the complaint in the log instead of dismissing the possibility. The whole call lasted less than 20 minutes. The next day I got a call back from them just to make sure that everything was still working correctly. This kind of support experience is simply not common enough.
