Great Router
Pros: I replaced my e3000 with this router as the 3000 would not have a consistent signal, nor would it stream Netflix to my TV above standard def. The 4200 was a flawless replacement and the signal is maxed out. Very easy setup. All computers and devices were up and running in less than half an hour.
Cons: why didn't the e3000 work like this
Good board/ But questions now
Pros: I have updated the bios twice and am pleased with this board. I have paired it with the i7 6700K Skylake CPU. I had an ASUS Rampage Extreme board before this board which had way more real estate in terms of slots/bells and whistles. But this was a good upgrade coming from LGA 2011. I used 16GB of GSkill Ripjaws 3000 and when I set the XMP it recognized the memory settings and it ran flawlessly. I must admit that this is very close in terms of the i7 Devil's Canyon build that I finished in September. Other than DDR 4 I'm not sure the Z170 is much of an upgrade if your coming from LGA 1150.
Cons: I do notice that my speakers will get a mild power surge on startup. It causes a mild "pop", but not worth taking a star away. I did see another reviewer experienced this as well.
Overall Review: 1/29/16 I have updated the bios to the current 1402 offering (but the problem has been evident since 1302 and before) as the updates have touted stability. Not for me. I made sure I purchased memory from the QVL (GSKILL 3000) and enabled XMP and used the motherboard's OC tuner for a stable overclock. When I purchased the board with the equipped bios, all was perfect. Since the bios updates- WHAT A LET DOWN!will not hold an overclock. Mem runs at 2133 or whatever. If I just turn on XMP w/o an OC I will have to go into settings and restore defaults to get to windows. I'm unhappy- ASUS QC has let me down, notwithstanding its has been impossible to send an email through their own website.
Good PSU
Pros: Replaced a Antec that died. All the wires are long enough to reach their respective plugs on the motherboard on a full tower case. Its a simple psu, but fits the need.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Not modular, but the excess wires wrap up fine.
Impressed
Pros: Fast delivery from Egg. I replaced a H P 25" LED display which has a 5ms response time. The difference is amazing. Battlefield 4 came to life and runs superb on all ultra settings at 144hz. I have it mounted on the wall with a 100 x100 VESA mount and the real estate I gained around the desk is great. No dead pixel issues or backlight bleed- I am using the stock Gamer setting which is fine for my needs. I have 2 gtx 680 video cards in sli. I don't know how the performance would be on a single card.
Cons: none
Overall Review: I had looked at Samsung but was drawn into the 144 hz debate. I'm happy with this monitor
Whats next..............
Pros: From 580's to 680's .....they run cool and stable- for the most part
Cons: not much of a bumb from 580's
Overall Review: Not a con, but the 580s were more stable... I have seen some artifacts and, well with 8 GB of mem and so on I'd expect more. No oc and kpet cool-
All good
Pros: I have to say that Samsung leaves to YOU to figure out what your gonna do with this drive. The data migration was new to me....I like clean installs> Anyway I popoed this drive in and ran the data migration software- from a Crucial 256 SSD to this drive and it was a miracle. 1/2 hour it was kicking but-
Cons: Little guidance- well none . They say stick it here and plug it there- all set. (weak)
Overall Review: There are NO directions, even at the Samsung website, which leads me to beleive that you "migrate" at your own risk.
