Cons: OK, had a DIR-657 and while the cable tech was installing a new modem as a upgrade he informed me I should upgrade my router. Since installing the dir857 my Android devices wont see my network media server to upload our photos and vids anymore. My myPS3 has a slower connection and inconsistent speed when tested. Disabling the 5GHZ wireless effects the speed of the PS3 when using the cable making it faster but still 5Mbps slower than my old dir657 that indicates a weak infrastructure of the device either processing power or power supply in general, who really knows. Tech had no luck so ever trying to correct the problems I have now and have reinstalled he old 10 year old dir657 and all works fine as before. Two weekends on the phone with tech, firmware upgrade, resetting to default settings and dozens of resets and tweeks and no luck. This product it a peace of junk. For some it may be a upgrade but for me,,,, no. If you have been using a cheap low quality router it may be an improvement for you but if you want to back up your photos and vids from your android phones it wont work unless you buy a new DLNA media server and get lucky. Just the fact the wired speed goes up with the 5ghz feature turned off raises a red flag.
