Great board, Great price!
Pros: Easy install in existing case without removal of drives or anything rough. Greate stability with SLED 10 x86_64
Cons: None that I have discovered.
Overall Review: I bought this board with an AMD Athalon 64 X2 5600+ and Corsair memory (2gig) I had it all together and up and running in about 45 minutes (OS Installed as well) The performance is outstanding. No regrets at all, not to mention the price!
Solid box, very poor firmware
Pros: Good number of ports, VLANs, fast wireless, easy SSL VPN configuration
Cons: Everything else. - Seriously, the wireless is really fast...when it will freaking work! I have had this thing for over a year and it has been in service for about 3-4 months out of all that time due to the firmware being such junk!
Overall Review: From the first day I bought this I had issues with the wireless. I have contacted D-Link about 10 times via phone and twice that via email. I have never been able to get it to work properly. Every time I contact them the have me do a firmware update, even when I am on the version they want it to be on. I have been hung up on, ignored and chewed out by D-Link and I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars with them...I can't imagine how they would treat someone who bought a $50 dollar wireless router! The wireless drops connections, will not hand out DHCP addresses and just stops working after 2-5 days, D-Link have never offered a RMA or replacement, they just keep ignoring my requests for either one and want to troubleshoot it.
Failed after a couple of weeks
Pros: Easy to use software that allows image transfer from old spinny hard drive. Really fast when it worked
Cons: Failed after a couple of weeks. Not worth the pain in the rear end of spending 12 plus hours trying to salvage my client data. System started freezing up after about 15 minutes of boot and the drive would fill up with trim files, hundreds of them, each one 2gig in size
Overall Review: I own 3 other OCZ drives, none of them have had any issues, but this is my first one over 120 gigs. NewEgg has issued a RMA refund, hopefully there won't be any issues getting it.
Horrible phone that phones home to China
Pros: Big screen with decent (not great) resolution
Cons: Terrible CPU, Chinese software installed on it, phones home to China when checking for updates.
Overall Review: I purchased this phone because it is made by BLU, a US company. Come to find out, it is just a semi-customized version that is generically made in China for a bunch of different companies. What is customized about it? The extra 512 MB of RAM, if you buy this same wholesale, it only comes with 512 MB. The version of Android on the phone is developed in China, by who knows who, and when it checks for updates it phones home to an IP address in China which has no reverse DNS, no record of who it belongs to and exactly zero detail about what it is doing to the phone. I contacted BLU about it and their response was "Do a hard reset on your phone". WHAT? I told them that was extremely silly, and told them they needed to setup, at a minimum a mirror of the update server in the US for any customers who buy the phone in the US. They basically told me to get bent. Here is the IP address that it phones home to: 114.80.60.223 and it uses port 8080. If you are interested in finding out if your BLU phone does the same thing, install the NO Root firewall from the Android market. It uses a VPN connection and shims all of the network traffic through it and will tell you exactly what traffic is going where. Attaching a screen shot of the firewall catching the outbound call to the IP address.
Good Antivirus
Pros: Fairly light on resources, seems to have a pretty good catch rate
Cons: Not as good as Webroot lots of false positives
Overall Review: Viper is a pretty decent antivirus, better than McAfee or Symantec (Norton). System resource usage is low compared to the big three AV providers. I replaced Webroot with it because my subscription was up on the webroot. I live webroot better, but for the price, this is awesome AV.
Worst laptop I have every owned
Pros: Light Weight...nothing else.
Cons: Where to start?!? Cheap plastic build, slower than a 486SX and loaded with bloatware.
Overall Review: I didn't pay a lot for this, but $256.00 was too much! I received it and it was packed well. That is the only good thing about it. It is slow as cold syrup, and has tons of bloatware on it. The touch pad is all but unusable, typing on the keyboard provides hours of frustration by randomly right clicking around the screen and generally causing a bunch of problems. I removed the 320 gig hard drive and replaced it with a 128 gig SSD, it is STILL slow. Boot up is tons faster, but it still lags like a 56k modem playing WOW once up and running. RUN AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!
Great company, great products
I purchased a refurbished laptop (Lenovo T430) for work. I am an independent Security Consultant and needed something fast and something good. I got both with US Micro Corp. Great deal on an excellent laptop and extremely dependable and fast service. Thank you for a great experience!
