This review is from: Alphacool Eisbaer 240 AIO CPU Cooler - Black (11285)
Pros: -This is REALLY CUSTOMIZABLE, flexible for expansion using your own tubing in the future from the pump included - it can power a larger loop for sure.
-The LED is AWESOME, the OCOOL (alphacool) lights up blue and fits my system's theme perfect. Additionally, the reservoir on the pump combo lights up, so you can see the coolant in there.
-Tubing BENDS A LOT W/ NO KINKS. I have this on my MINI-ITX, and while trying to fit test fit it in the system I put a lot of stress on the tubing. It withstood it in grand fashion, and the coils around the tubing really work.
-Quick-disconnect part allows for expansion, as well as moving the tubing criss-cross to fit your case better.
-My INTEL i7-6700K @ 4.5Ghz idles at 26-29C, and under really heavy load of Handbrake Encoding of Full HD files the MAX TEMP I ever saw was 84C. Keep in mind, the system has only one intake fan - through the GPU radiator. There is no other intakes, and the 240mm are the only exhaust for the system. (Realistically, normal spikes on desktop go to max 40Cs, and gaming on GTA V and opening about 600 Browser tabs yield ~60C s)
Cons: -While it did fit in my MINI-ITX Corsair 250D, the fact that the quick-disconnect is to close to the pump-end of one of the tubings means the overall bend radius for the whole setup is not quite what it could be. I wish it were located a bit closer to the mid section of the tubing
-The mounting setup for attaching the block to the mobo is a bit cumbersome. Alphacool should work on a simpler snap solution, while retaining the quality and firmness of this finished mounts
-It came with its own thermal past. However, it should have come in a tubing rather than a bag I had to cut. Additionally, too much came in, and ironically when I decided to remove the block and replace the thermal paste the mid-portion of the die had little past there. It spread elsewhere, and the center of the CPU was left blank.
-Black tubing means no way to see any air bubbles. I recommend running this loop outside the finished system or case BEFORE installing everything else, just to check if it all works properly.
Other Thoughts: -This is one of the best coolers AIO in the market. I'm sure if I put this as an intake OR in a system that has more plentyful and better airflow, the temperatures would be really low (probably wold not break mid 70sC on handbrake testing). Nonetheless, the 30cm thick radiator + the EXTREMELY SILENT and gorgeous pump/reservoir combo fits in most cases, and works similarly to much more expensive coolers (Like the EK Predator 240, plus this quick-disconnect system here is higher quality).
I recommend you buy this as a future proof solution for your system cooling. The fill port allows you to, over time, fix any evaporation of coolant, and completely replace it if you want something of a different color or transparency - or UV reactive! Make sure you have the height clearance, and obviously your case has at least 55cm of clearance for the radiator+fans - which the Corsair 250D mini-itx has.
Pros: -Way bigger than I expected OR will likely ever use
-Meaning BUY ONE AND YOU'RE SET! For $16 bucks w/ shipping, what a deal!
-Easy to cut & adhesive BEFORE BEING PRESSED allows for moving and repositioning. HOWEVER, once you press it down any surface IT IS DONE! Or a messy peel awaits you.
Cons: -I wish it was thinker, like 6mm+ DESPITE being effective as is.
-Material does feel cheap, if you try to peel the actual foam comes off sometimes. That is the cost for being affordable, HOWEVER it does look cheap.
-Best fit for the side-panel holding the cables in mid-towers+ OR covering sidepanels that are open for noise lowering, as I did
Other Thoughts: Used on my Corsair 250D side panel - although I bought another panel just in case I f*ed this up or it sucked.
Lowered noise significantly, and because I can cut it I can fit it many places. Used only 1 of the 2 sheets that came for my mini-itx case, and there is still PLENTY left.
Pros: -Aesthetics are perfect, neutral color scheme for some crazy color setups OR MY CHOICE: BLACK everything + Blue Accents (extensions + H100i Pump Block)
-I/O Shield COVER - not the I/O Shield, that comes with every motherboard, but a cover for these ugly back parts - helps GREATLY with aesthetics
-M.2 KEY E slot for WiFi cards (which I bought and installed Intel's 8260) - BUT go to UEFI AND TURN M.2 ON, it is disabled by default
-UEFI is clean and tells everything you need
Overall clean and nice,
Cons: -The connectors are placed in WEIRD and HARD TO FATHOM reasons for it: the USB 3.0 is bafflingly placed near the I/O stuff RATHER THAN THE BOTTOM OR SIDE, which made me just DUMP FRONT PANEL CONNECTIONS ENTIRELY
-NO USB 2.0 INTERNAL HEADER: which sucks because I cannot connect my H100i Corsair Link connector
-ONLY 3 FAN HEADERS - including the CPU fan header, which is pathetic. Get yourself some Y SPLITTERS because you WILL need them
-Compared to my previous ASUS MAXIMUS VI IMPACT, there is NO MEANINGFUL SOFTWARE for controlling the motherboard and features. YES, there is the E-LEET software, but it is a glorified CPU-Z with overclocking tabs - that is it
-NO WiFi, which DOES CUT COST DOWN but would be nice to have it included - OTHERWISE, YOU WILL HAVE TO BUY THE ANTENNA CABLE, ANTENNAS, AND THE M.2 WiFi CARD ITSELF!
If you are ok with difficult or non-existent cable management, lacking connectors and wifi, and puzzling connector placements, then it is a great deal for the money.
Other Thoughts: Great board, wins aesthetics over ALL OTHER MINI-ITX BOARDS HANDS DOWN! However, it cuts on some "extras" corner pretty bad, with WiFi and USB 2.0 being the major victims. If you need both of those, the wifi needs are explained above and for USB 2.0 get on another certain website (E.B.A-Y) an INTERNAL 3.0 TO 2.0 adapter. ALSO, GET A USB 3.0 EXTENSION, as well as an EPS connector.READ FULL REVIEW
