Nice Machine

HP Desktop PC Pavilion Slimline S5120F (NP187AA#ABA) AMD Athlon X2 7750 4GB DDR2 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
HP Desktop PC Pavilion Slimline S5120F (NP187AA#ABA) AMD Athlon X2 7750 4GB DDR2 500GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Pros: Compact size, looks, speed, HD size, PCI-E X-16 2.0 slot. Decent cooling (3 fans).

Cons: Two expansion slots covered by PS and therefore unusable.

Overall Review: I upgraded the video with a 512 MB low profile Radeon 4650 PCI-E 16 card and took out the modem an installed a PCI-E X-1 USB card, giving me 3 more USB 2.0 ports. I could have used the slot for a TV tuner card, but use USB for that. So configured the unit makes an excellent HTPC (the Radeon card has DVI-I and HDMI ports).

Most Critical Review

Good performance, poor design

ZOTAC GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card ZT-40603-10L
ZOTAC GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card ZT-40603-10L

Pros: Good performance to price ratio. Bumped Win 7 graphics from 4.6/5.3 to 6.6/6.6 on my Phenom II 3 GHz quad core desktop. Relatively quiet fan.

Cons: Poor design. First, in a low profile install, the d-sub connector bracket must go in the slot to the left/above the card. The heatsink/fan shroud blocks its use on the other side. Next, the d-sub connector cannot be removed without removing the heatsink/fan shroud and this entails removing four tiny screws. A little forethought could have prevented both of these faults.

Perfect card for slimline DTs

GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Low Profile Video Card GV-N105TOC-4GL
GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Low Profile Video Card GV-N105TOC-4GL

Pros: Easy install with included low profile bracket Excellent performance at 1080p Very happy with 250-300 watt PS

Cons: None at this price point

Overall Review: Considering the ridiculous pricing by graphics card manufacturers today, this $249 refurbished Gigabyte GTX 1050 ti is refreshing. I put it up there with the Geforce GTX 1660 Super as the only value graphics cards around today.. Installation into my new Acer slim tower was a snap. I do not run the "latest and greatest" games but do enjoy the new Age of Empires series with enhanced graphics pack. The 1050 ti gives me 40-60 fps at high/ultra detail settings and 1080p. i routinely get 90+ fps in AoE 1. If you have a slimline HT machine with at least a 250-300 watt PS and want a bit more graphics performance. I can highly recommend this low profile 1050 ti card.

Mislabled DIMM

G.SKILL Aegis 8GB 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16S-8GIS
G.SKILL Aegis 8GB 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16S-8GIS

Pros: It works, but slowly.

Cons: See review below.

Overall Review: I ordered an 8 GB DDR4-3200 DIMM to match the 8 GB DDR4 3200 DIMM in my new Acer desktop. The DIMM I received was labeled as such. However, both Techpowerup's MemTest 64 and CPU-Z report the DIMM as a DDR4-2133 DIMM. I kinda had an inkling of something amiss when i saw the dIMM was 1.35V. Most DDR4s are 1.20V. Bummer.

Acer Aspire XC - Intel Core i3-10100 - 8 GB DDR4 - 1 TB HDD - Intel UHD Graphics 630 - Windows 10 Home - Desktop Computer (XC-895-UR11)

Pros: Snappy performance for HDD equipped PC Restrained style M2 slot for SSD or Optane module DVD burner 300 watt PS

Cons: None at this price point

Overall Review: I am disabled with the use of only one hand. Trying to move towers, even the mini variety, has become a chore, so I looked for a SFF solution (slim tower) that allowed for a decent graphics card and this Acer fills the bill nicely. Most SFFs I looked at had puny power supplies. My HP has a Ryzen 3 processor and a PCI-e slot, but for some unfathomable reason HP stuck a proprietary 180-watt PS in there. Go figure. This Acer at least has a 300-watt PS, which allows for at least a decent graphics card. My use includes web surfing. e-mail and light gaming. I upgraded the RAM to 16 GB and installed a Radeon RX 550 low profile graphics card. I've got a LP Geforce GTX 1050 ti coming soon. I'll also be installing a 16 GB Intel Optane module to improve boot times. Set up was a snap and I've encountered no hiccups along the way, so far. Highly recommended.

No gripes so far

Samsung LC24RG50FQNXZA 24" 1920 x 1080 Full HD Resolution 144Hz HDMI DisplayPort Eye-Saver Mode Flicker-Free Technology LED Backlit Curved Gaming Monitor

Pros: Crisp display high refresh rates Good color rendition

Cons: Sometimes doesn't auto detect inputs Menus not the most intuitive around only a 1-year warranty

Overall Review: My first curved monitor. No major gripes so far. Running 144 Hz refresh rate.
