Good performance and good price!
Pros: Easy install, good performance, reliable,
Cons: None that I've experienced.
Overall Review: I own two of these and am ready to pick up a third. I've used this on a Windows Vista machine, Linux Mint 17, Ubuntu Desktop 14, Win 7 Pro and Home 64 and now on a Windows 8.1 Pro 64 box. It's been pretty much plug and go on all of these Windows systems. On the Linux boxes they were fresh installs with the adapter already in place. Have had NO issues with the two I own.
Gambled and LOST.
Pros: Prints quickly and cleanly WHEN it prints.
Cons: Picked this printer up for about $25 on sale and decided to go all out and spring for a Sailner Compatible SPP-PB-210 Toner Cartridge too. Total cost about $50.00. Things started off OK... was a little quirky getting the wireless up... but it worked and printed well for a short while. That was at the start of October. Now it's December 22nd and both the original toner cartridge and the 'new' replacement both cause the LED #2 Orange light to come on indicating that they are 'expired' ... whatever that is supposed to mean. Toner was stored in sealed package in a dry and cool place. How is it expired!?!?
Overall Review: I tried this laser because I'm sick of being ripped off by inkjets that dry up, clog and otherwise 'expire.' If I had realized that these toner cartridges are also set to 'expire' I wouldn't have bothered. Not cool. Pantum and Sailner certainly won't be seeing any more business from me. UPDATE 4/10/2016 Since my original 12/22/2015 review this printer has been sitting as I contemplate tossing it in the trash. I decided to give it one more chance and started mucking with it again. Still was getting the "Toner Expired" lights... then when checking the printer settings I noticed the web interface was reporting that the cartridge was not installed. I pulled it out to inspect it for the 100th time... toner seal ribbon was removed properly, the toner chip contacts appeared to be clean and accessible. Then I wet my finger and wiped it across the toner chip contacts... and it came away black with toner dust. Wiped the contacts dry and re-inserted the cartridge... the green lights came on and the printer is now printing (at least for the moment!) So it you're getting indicator lights on the printer telling you the toner is expired... check the web interface and see if it says the cartridge is not installed. Even if the contacts LOOK clean... clean them anyway and try re-installing the toner. Right now my doorstop is printing and I've upped my star rating to 3 stars. Pantum has no online support... just a list of phone numbers listed on their web site. They really need to up their game if they want to be successful in this market. I'll update this again if there are any new developments.
Works in my HP z420 Workstation
Pros: Upgraded my z420 Xeon E5 1650 (3.2GHz) machine with these 2 16GB sticks. Booted right up and reported 32GB in Windows 10 Pro.
Cons: The machine originally had 8GB of RAM (2 x 4GB Nanya brand) installed. First I replaced the original RAM altogether, to make sure the machine would boot. All was good. I added the original 8GB of RAM to it and the machine will not POST. So... I could not mix the RAM. I removed the 8GB of Nanya RAM and booted right back to the new 32GB configuration. I expected this might happen so it's not really a con. Just be aware that mixing RAM can be quite fussy.
Overall Review: I would recommend this kit to anyone looking to upgrade the RAM in their z420. I'm considering picking up another z420 refurb and if I needed to upgrade the RAM I would definitely purchase this item again.
Big hard drive with seemingly decent speeds.
Pros: Large capacity and decent performance on Windows 10 Pro.
Cons: Seems to have a boot issue on an HP Z420 Workstation (Intel Xeon E5-1650 3.20 GHz)
Overall Review: Got this in July 2018 and installed on Win 10 Pro on an HP Z420 with 8GB RAM. The drive was recognized by Windows without problem. I immediately formatted the drive as NTFS and things were fine... until I restarted the machine. The machine fails to boot with this thing turned on. I've turned off legacy USB support in the BIOS, turned off booting from USB hard drives, changed boot order. No joy. I already have a 2TB Hitachi USB drive connected and powered... and the system boots fine. If this drive is powered on during boot the system will not start. Even tried moving it to other USB ports (both USB 3 and USB2) and still the problem remains. So for now... I have the drive on a switched power controller and I power it up AFTER Windows starts. When I do that Windows sees the drive just fine and mounts it. I can only assume there is something in the Z420 BIOS that doesn't care for this drive during the boot process. Other than the boot issue the drive works as expected.
Wrong OS on the delivered unit.
Pros: I had recently received a refurb z420 on my desk at work... it's a nice machine so I thought I'd update one of my home machines with this z400. The machine arrived and looked good. It appeared to be clean and in good physical condition.
Cons: The description and the invoice both indicated Win10 Pro but the machine I received powered up as Win7 Pro. :-( While the machine arrived undamaged the box had suffered some abuse from FedEx and 5 of the 8 internal styrofoam packing corners were broken.
Overall Review: Newegg issued an RMA and shipping documents for the return, no problem. It's already on its way back.
Update to previous review
Pros: Inexpensive... if you get a decent batch
Cons: You might hit a batch of coasters...
Overall Review: I'm increasing my original 1 star rating to 3 stars... while I initially burned a bunch of coasters,I am now getting reliable burns. I actually moved the orignal LG drive to another machine... and bought a Pioneer Blu-ray Burner SATA BDR-209DBK. I made another two coasters in the Pioneer... then after that every burn has completed and verified. So I'm hoping it was just a string of faulty discs in the first pack. NewEgg support was helpful and I almost RMA'd the whole batch... but they asked that I test the second stack... if my current good results continue I'll remain happy. I'll re-test in the LG drive soon.. Thanks NewEgg!
Nice Refurb
Computer was packed well and shipped/delivered promptly. This is the 2nd refurb I've picked up from them and they make nice, affordable. every-day desktops. Machine was clean and had no problems setting up. I would recommend to anyone looking for a decent refurb.
Excellent product and fast delivery
I bought a refurb PC and it was packed very well and shipped fast. The machine was exactly as described and is running well. I would not hesitate to make a future purchase from this seller.
